York's number 22, Thompson (Reece is it?), scored their goal.

What an absolute c unt he is.

Deserved a yellow as a minimum for leaving his foot in on Worley and anyone who waves their hand in the air asking for an opponent to be booked should be booked themselves. Horrible, gobby little twat.

Or....is he just one of those wind up merchants who if he plays for you is great?

Which leads me on to Fenwick.....the probelm for me is, he is playing out of position. He is a finisher/poacher etc but he just can't play there in the current formation. Bingham is quickly becoming my favourite player in the current side so I wouldn't drop him (if we went 442) and you can't drop your Captain so I suppose he either adapts his game (which I'm not sure he wants to do) or he spends most of his time on the bench.

I loved Fenwick when he first arrived and still do now, but whereas before he was unsettling defenders in a good way, getting in their faces, winding them up...he now just seems to be angry. He had a go at Carroll yesterday too. I think he needs to channel it a bit because he is a decent player.

I think he just wants to play in a more central role and I can't blame him really because that's his game. Just can't see how it can happen though.

I tend to agree about Fenwick, I don't think he's a good enough all round footballer yet to play in a wide roll. He has lots of rough edges and at times does look like a non league player.

But one thing you can guarantee from the lad is 100% effort and commitment and that he'll do a job for the team to the best of his ability. Hopefully a goal will do him the World of good because he looked like he knew he hadn't played well yesterday when he was subbed.

Agree entirely with that.

Wouldn't want to switch to 442 because we don't have 2 out and out wingers and where would that leave Magnay, who arguably been best player in every game so far just in front of defence.

Just need to remember that Fenwick has started all three games and we have won them all.

He put in a workmanlife shift against Morecambe, was unlucky not to score at Fleetwood and played his part at York.

He will get goals in a 433. He's got plenty of fight in his belly but agree with the posters on here that he shouldn't be sulking. He's in the starting line-up and Bings and Paynts have been outstanding.

Predict Fenwick to score against Newport.

Fenwick was the same last season when he played wide. He isn't that good a footballer imo but is a poacher. Playing as we are he either stays out wide or he warms the bench. Part of me thinks he isn't happy playing in his current role and it shows he wants to be scoring goals but with paynter so far proving a few, including myself wrong will be the main striker.

The go he had at Carroll was justified, he ended up putting in a last ditch tackle on Carrolls man to stop him getting a cross in, all he was doing was telling him to do his job, if he hadn't have had a go I'd be more concerned about his temperament.

Personally I thought Fenwick was great on Tuesday night holding up the ball, especially after Paynter went off and was fantastic as seeing the game out. Yesterday I thought he did a hell of a lot of defensively helping out Carroll. Yes its curtailing the Fenwick from last season who got the goals but he is going a good job for the team.

On the York newspaper site there are loads of comments about how great Thompson was, a future star, that they will sell him for big money and how we were all booing him because we were trying desperately to put him off his awesome stride (no mention of the leg breaker challenge), also how great the York fans were............deluded. A dirty little thug destined for a return to non-league, hopefully with York.

York put us under pressure first half and we did ride our luck at times but it was mainly due to exposing out lack of height and hitting the big number 9 early after Thompson has taken Worley out of the game with a shocking tackle.

To be fair after a shaky start Bates did alright. Soft goal aside they didn't really cause us any problems second half.

Bootham Crescent has to be the quietest ground in the World though, a home goal is met by an almost silent roar then a polite ripple of applause.

Was Thompson the fucker waving the imaginary card when Carroll took someone out? Probably the same fucker whinging to the red when Bartlett held the ball for 3 seconds.

Having seen the foul again, I wish our players had ran over and confronted/shoved the little turd, like they did when we got their fucker sent off last year. I don't like to see it but it may have swayed the refs mind, unbelievable that it was no booking.

If Fenwick needs goals to make him happy, he just needs to bide his time. Paynter & Bingham will attract all the attention from defenders, & that frees up space & opportunities for other Pools' players

This. He may whinge and sulk if subbed and knows he didn't play well but that's a good thing IMO. He is giving 100% will be gutted he has missed a few decent chances this season and is clearly getting used to the role. Bingham and Paynter have clicked and I'm sure Fenwick will too soon enough. As said above, he may well under the radar at the minute as Bingham and Paynter taking all the headlines, hopefully opposition let him go under the radar.

I am no expert but the body language (and the utter bollocks spoken) suggests Reece Thompson is not so sure that they are good enough!!!

Predicted earlier in this thread he would score tonight. Great we've got three up front who are all capable of scoring goals. Who needs wingers?

We do Im afraid, there were times tonight when we were crying out for a wide man - although it didn't matter in the end, against better teams than Newport we may be punished. RM obviously doesn't rate his young wingers as yet so if the owners are serious about maintaining what is fast becoming a promotion push it may prove necessary for RM to dip into the transfer/loan market.
