The 2nd goal yesterday came from a quick kick out from our keeper which actually went to our only player in their half of the field.

Wouldn't have happened with flinders in goal . He would have kept hold of it for 30 seconds then kicked it into touch

Just saying was good to see the quick kick out come off

Barts is a top keeper will take some shifting from starting 11 when Carson is fit, one thing I noticed at York is flinders kicking has improved while there

Bartlett had another cracking game yesterday....can't see how Carson could be any better. I wouldn't want to have to tell Bartlett he's dropped (when Carson's fit).

Flinders was and still is a quality keeper. I think we all agree that Sir Ron knows his stuff and he offered Flinders another contract so he can't be that bad. He was man of the match for their game against Bradford according to one of their fans I had a chat with.

Think we'll have to agree to disagree Mr Gloves.

I appreciate there are those on here who thinks Flinders is bobbins and no amount of discussion will change that :)

Not sure how can say 3 better keepers mind. Denton is based on what and same with Carson so far.

Bartlett has really took this chance and can't see how you put Carson back in at present. Will have to wait for a chance

If Bartlett keeps this up, there is not a chance in hell of Moore telling him he is dropped when Carson is fit imo.

it'll be interesting when Carsons fit. I hope Moore does the right thing and keep Bartlett in goal with the way he's playing at the minute

Flinders is a reasonable league 2 (possibly lower league 1 keeper) but he spent 6 years with Pools and surely many scouts must have seen him play (even if watching other players) yet he only got a sideways move to York, a team like us that struggled last season. So although I think along with others on here, he was decent player for us(lower league 1 / league2) those within the game who've seen him play obviously don't think that much of him otherwise once he became a free agent then surely a better team (no disrespect) than York would have picked him up.

flinders was a decent shot stopper there is no disagreeing on that. however, its the other aspects of goalkeeping that failed him; distribution, commanding presence in his box, his communication with the defence and the ability to kill a game with his relaxed approach. there is more urgency in Iain Wright getting the hospital back in Hartlepool. and its the other aspects other than shot stopping that defies a great gk from your average gk

I think we have 2 better keepers. Denton was shocking in Ashington friendly.

This is all getting a bit silly.

Flinders, at his best was a very good keeper one of the better permanent ones I've seen at Pools. Only Dimi I'd say and possibly Martin Hodge better in my eyes.

We watched him over six years though and naturally like most players at this level he will have dips in form over that period. To say a lad is 'better' based on three games in which he's played well and been full of confidence isn't particularly fair.

Also like many aspects of the club over the six years his position is one that's been neglected badly in that period due to cost cutting. He's never had geniune competition for his place which is never healthy and for a long period didn't have any sort of full time goalkeeper coach. Last year he was trying to look after Maxted in training with nobody looking after his game than himself which at professional level isn't acceptable.

I don't get this thing about trying constantly belittle ex players especially one who served the club to the best of his ability and has been nothing but a good solid pro. He clapped the Pools fans at the end after he'd lost and would have been gutted. Let's wish him luck and move and concentrate on the lads who are playing for us, and I hope we can look back and say both the new keepers are better than Flinders. If that's the case we'll have two good goalkeepers a at this level.
