I love Scott Fenwick but out on the left he looks a bit uncomfortable, I thought oates pace made a big difference when he came on and it changed the game. Fenwick is more effective down the middle.

Heard nothing but positive things about him from the Barnsley fans and Grimsby fan at work.

Did well on loan at Grimsby. Apparently he came on for Barnsley last day of season, made an assist and played a blinder... then got released and ended up at Pools. :D

Fenwick was outstanding last season playing the exact same position whilst Bingham was on loan. He's still a work in progress as a pro remember.

Very impressed with Oates when he came on. The lad has a great attitude and gives it everything. As Ronnie said - he is one to watch this season. Looks like another good spot by RM.

Fenwick didn't have a good game at all today in fact at times he looked out of his depth but as been said he was a lad who was playing Northern League this time last year, he always gives his all but I hope the people lauding him will have a bit of patience if he struggles a bit this season.

Oates looked good when he came on for Paynter at Fleetwood too. Won everything in the air and had some good link up play with Fenwick.

Simple for me leave Oaks in because his attitude and work rate was brilliant and he changed the game. Fenwick struggled and got subbed and then kicked out in the dug out! You may argue that its because he cares etc etc but for me he had more than a verbal go at Carroll in the first half for what I thought was down to his mistake? and then kicked off because he was substituted ( Well done Sam spotted our weakness and put on a player who in my opinion will be a regular very soon ) for having a poor game. Nothing at all against Fenwick he is a proven jack in the box and will always score goals but he looked unhappy from the start and thats down to him not being upfront and scoring goals but its Ronnies team and Fenwick needs to get a better attitude or he could find himself out of the team because at this moment he is the only one sulking and that could affect the team spirit. If he keeps on working hard I am sure he will get that chance to play up top either by injury or poor form then he can claim it full time by banging in the goals we all know he has in his locker.

This may be an unpopular view, but I thought Fenwick had a huge chip on his shoulder during the game against Gateshead a few weeks ago. Seemed quite irritable, moaned when nothing went his way and didn't really do anything about it. Maybe it is easy to dismiss as it was a friendly, but I thought his attitude was very poor that day.

Wasn't able to make the game yesterday due to work, but from what you are saying it could be a carry on from that.

He does love a good moan, personally I wouldn't start him; the one thing he was good for last season was goals and we had nobody else who could score so he was necessary to our survival. Now we have Bingham and Paynter who can bag a few, so I now believe his best role would be as an impact sub where he can take advantage of tired legs.

Leave it as it is, he's playing his part in a good start.

People have very short memories questioning his attitude when he's desperate to make it a professional. He was outstanding in exactly same position last season do give him time

Don't think so, didn't we play it when Bingham was here on loan? Cos we definitely played it at Tranmere when Fenwick scored and also Plymouth at home when franks scored twice

Plymouth at home was the only game I recall. He will get used to it I'm sure, a goal will sort him out.

I've read that three times, are you serious? Lad scores goals, yet you infer if he hadn't of scored goals you wouldn't of played him! Rocket science.

Basically all Fenwick is good for is goals, now we have goals in the team he shouldn't be starting.

Thought Fenwick looked overweight.

Fenwick will get goals if he gets the chances. No wonder he ain't happy after scoring one in two last year then being put on the wing. Paynter cant do it every week Fenwick will get his chance.

The 3 up top is working.
Fenwick just needs a goal and Oates his doing his bit from the bench.

Ronnie n Sam got a few good subs who can make an impact this season.

Fenwick being on the field makes space for others, he is a pain in the arse for defenders to handle and comes with a bit of a reputation. Can't really see why anyone would consider changing the team at all to be honest.

Fair point but is he really thinking about the team no matter what as long as we get results? Or is he thinking only of playing up top and this is causing him frustration during games because he believes he would be scoring the missed chances ? Talking of making space for others surely you have to admit that Oates did that in abundance in 15 minutes but when did Fenwick do that in the game? And he also missed chances just like the lads he wants to replace. He needs to sort out his head and become a team player regardless of if he is in the team or on the bench and regardless of if he plays in goal or centre forward! We really need the team to stay focused and work together if we are to progress this season and I for one really do believe we have a real chance of promotion if we stay a tight unit and concentrate only as a team not as individuals. Last season we had one or two bad apples and it almost cost us our league place. I dont give a flying fooook if its him or someone else ...but all the players must be 100% a team player first and be happy if selected given the very good squad available to Ronnie and Sam.
