Please dont go off on one when I say this but does anyone else think that it is crazy for Danny Wilson to go on holiday at this time when players are there to be signed? I find it mental that Wilson has now turned round and said that we need to sign some players (on the bbc news site). It could have been done by now FFS. If the club had any common sense then Wilsons holiday should come later on.

Other clubs have been busy signing players but we seem to fall into this trap on a fairly regular basis with the concern obviously being that the best players have been signed by other clubs.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying that he isnt entitled to a holiday, of course he is, but surely he could have gone away for a few weeks once contracts have been sorted. Ian Butterworth could always do the pre-season training regime.

I'm sure Chris Turner is more than capable of handling any possible comings or goings while Wilson is on holiday.

But CT probably doesnt have authority to sign anyone without Wilsons say so, and Im sure any potential players would want to meet the manager prior to signing for the club dont you think?!

A player who has a wife and kids is not going to refuse a contract at another club in the hope that Wilson will sign him when he returns from his jollies. Players offered decent contracts elsewhere will sign for those clubs.

on the other hand why on earth shouldn't wilson go on holiday? Its been a bloody long season and these 2 weeks will be the only chance of a break he'll get before next season ends.

He's not a machine!!

Players contracts dont expire until 30th June, thats when the real business will kick off.

It'll all be ok.

Maybe I am just panicking at the lack of any transfer activity so far, I appreciate he will need a holiday, I just would have thought that it could have been timed during pre-season training or something

surely he's needed for pre-season training though??!!??

The way I see it we've only ever really bought very early in the close season once in recent years (Nelson) so it really is early days to be worrying about the lack of signings, this is the best time for him to have a break, come the first week of July he'll be very busy.

I like the use of the word 'probably' there!, whats the point of having a director of sport/football if they can only 'probably' sign players.......

Give your head a shake man

Im sure Danny Wilson would be well pleased if CT signed a player without his agreement whilest he was on holiday wouldnt he! That would be like you employing a member of staff on behalf of your boss without his say-so.

I think it is you who needs to give your head a shake.

CT's role is not meant to extend to the playing squad from what I recall at the time of his employment

I am sure by now they know who they want and CT and Russ Green will tie up the deals.

Quite obviously you know the ins and outs of CT's role and the club so I’ll say nothing, apart from....

CT won't decide WHO to buy, but he finalise all the paper work

PS

Please carry on with your superior knowledge and let me know which BIG names we have missed out on due to the fact Danny Wilson has had the temerity to take a well deserved break

PPS

There is a new invention sweeping across the world..... It's called the telling phone I believe; perhaps DW could negotiate a contract using this new fangled device?

PPPS

The move from Rival to the Bunker hasnt changed your ever so cheerful outlook on all things Pools, has it?

Like I said above on 2 occasions, he does deserve such a break

No, I have not heard of a telling phone, please explain what one is!

I do have a cheerful outlook on Pools these days since the promotion, however this does not mean that they do not drop a bollock from time to time

He deserves a break...it's not easy being a manager y'know...

We're normally without a manager at this stage of the season...lets be positive.

A small price to pay considering Turner was one of the main reasons behind our most successful period in the clubs history  :sweeeet:

George Wood the GK coach probably had the most to do with the signing of Lee-Barrett gravedisorder.

I've heard the recommendation was made via mobile from a chalet in Skegness though. The wonders of modern science.

You see it can be done, does anyone know if George is back yet?

He's took an extra week at Mablethorpe pj.

Don't expect any developements.Mablethorpe is notorious for not getting a signal on your mobile.
