I totally agree with you but that's why he and the show have been so successful, controversy sells.

This.

Shithouse of the highest order. One of those people who never says anything nice about anyone. Always on the negative to make himself look good.

It was just a second rate travel show IMHO.
Buy a car for three hundred quid, drive it across some remote part of (insert name of underdeveloped country) till it breaks down with hilarious consequences, say 'cock' a lot....

It's quite funny how most of the comments are negative with people moaning about him and what he does when in fact your comments are of a similar Nature.

I liked top gear and think the bbc have made a mistake with Evans but there will probably be a new show on a different channel soon

I used to record it to cut out all the poncey fast car bits and watch the feature at the end. I found James May funny actually.
I won't be watching Evans.
My choice.

Loved the show. It made me laugh and I likes cars. It appealed to millions of others too so they must have done something right. I grew up in a council house but I ask manage to find some affinity with Clarkson. Perhaps because he grew up in the north.

I'm in the, its a funny car orientated-ish magazine program with some really hilarious parts to it. For example the deep south feature with 'Man Love Rules' and 'Hilary for President' daubed on the cars was hugely funny.

Like him or hate him, Clarkson speaks for the non PC brigade and speaks it well.

Actually, I think the timing is excellent for the three of them. Top Gear was becoming boring and repetitive. The formula was worn out so is in desperate need of a change. The Clarkson/May/Hammond will get incredibly richer now on Netflix and Chris Evans's poor imitation will be uninteresting. I won't be watching, mainly because I can't stand the ginger get.

Life would be dull without a car, not because I enjoy driving but because the alternatives are terrible in this country. I definitely agree it's expensive to run but it's hard to whinge as it's my choice.

Agree almost entirely, the last few seasons took it too far. That said I had a right chuckle at a couple of moments in last nights show.
I will give Chris Evans' effort a shot as I listen to his radio show when I'm in the car, in no small part due to the embarrassing competition. I also grew up watching Big Breakfast and TFI and while most older folk will not understand his personality, that resembles a kid after 50 bags of skittles, I enjoy it.
I'm not convinced it will work in its current form, he's too different from Clarkson for that. They need a complete revamp or it will just flop.

Well done clappp

I should say I didn't intend to offend. I meant for me life would be dull as I detest this country's public transport and I work quite far from home were public transport would be very impractical. I also live a distance from the shops.
As I said I won't whinge as where I work and live is largely my choice as is my mode of transportation.

Top Gear was never that funny but it was rarely unenjoyable and was one of the very few things on the BBC to tweak the nose of PC blandness; hence, why it became such a standard for people to rally behind.

I will miss it more for what it represented than the entertainment it provided.
