And it's TERRIBLE rage

Seriously, whatever people think of our ship's wheel logo (I don't like it) the very least that we could expect is for the club itself to know what it's supposed to look like.

I don't know about the rest of you but if I produce anything with my company's logo on it then there are strict rules about how that logo is used. The colours in the logo are rigidly defined, as is the size, aspect ratio, the amount of white space permitted around it, EVERYthing. Copies of the logo are available in various formats on the company website and nobody draws one themselves in Photoshop or Powerpoint.

Take a look at any Pools merchandise you might have. Check your mugs, your shirts, your season ticket book. Check different pages of the official website. You rarely get the same logo twice. The football in the centre changes, as does its size in relation to the wheel; the shade of red on that wheel changes; the shading on the scroll changes; the curve of the text on the club's name changes; the proximity of the club's name to the wheel changes. Surely no other professional club in England is as slapdash as us when it comes to this. It's amateur hour, it really is. banghead

Hopefully, with this badge being a one-off (we're surely not going to go with 1908-2008 in 2008/09!) we can bin it after next summer and get a new one, one that doesn't make us look like a bloody shambles.

Apart from that, s'alright I s'pose

Exactly right mate. The curent logo is terrible and this is just an example of IOR wanting extra advertising.

I used to think that the logo from the Gibson era was awesome (the modern style one with the stag outline over the two blue lines).

The wheel logo was apparently chosen when the Mail ran a competition to design the new logo. Apparently the person who designed it had 'ties' with the club and hpool mail. refred

Amateurs.

Another great example is the way the text above the turnstiles at Pools was done without using a stencil or a ruler to get straight lines! Really professional!

So we brought in a top notch left winger, a barnstorming centre forward, a midfield genius, a deep midfield general, went on a record breaking clean sheet run, an incredible unbeaten run, hammered our derby rivals at their place, finished with a plus away goal difference for the first time in our history, broke our best away performance record, got pipped for the Divisional Championship on the last day of the season, got promoted at the first time of asking, had a clearout in preparation for exciting additions to the squad for the assault on League 1 and been linked lately with some very exciting emerging talents.

But the logo's shit and the stenciling above the turnstiles is a bit wonky.

Well we might as well all pack it in, eh??

I can feel another 'Pet Hates' coming on......

easy tiger! Yeah we had a great season and things are looking good but at the end of the day, the club should be proffessional enough to want to avoid amateurish things. I dont see how you could disagree confised

Not sure if a copy and paste of the logo is allowed so remove it if needed. Just looks like the wheel (or helm for all you clever fookers) and footy in the middle is something from clipart. Not the greatest logo in the world and maybe they didn't want to change it too much for fear of upsetting fans who liked the badge.
How about people who don't like it try knock up their own designs? Obviously won't be used by the club but be interesting to see what alternatives people can make.

Improveents should always be strived for, the badge is a mess..... Why the fuck is the wheen red for a start? I'm sure Mr Snowy could draw something a shitload better than the badge we have. And like has been mentioned the badge is hardly standardised, the dimensions of it are splatted together as if anything would do....... The team is quality but the badge is so Division Four. I hope IOR get it sorted......

IT DOESN'T FOOKIN' MATTER!!!!!!!!

I am simply at a loss to think of ANYTHING less important to a football club than what it's badge looks like. It's a one dimensional image that could be a dead rat with a pencil through it's head for all the effect it has on anything or anyone.

So can any of you badge purists demonstrate exactly what difference a different badge is going to have on the club in terms of goals scored, goals saved, increased attendances, league position, attraction to better players, onfield performances, quality of pies or fookin' OWT.

Yes it does matter, it is part of the clubs identity. We don't support a shitty little rag tag outfit, We are fans of Hartlepool United. Other clubs have decent iconic badges - why can't we?

The fact that the team has done well is completely irrelevent to this thread, the badge is shit and tacky, hopefully we will have a better one soon......

Ah, the separatist argument. Isolate the subject matter ergo withdrawing all comparisons and advantage thereby focussing solely on the point one wishes to drive home. Like finding gold in the sewers and moaning about all the shit round it, but in reverse. Nice try.

Give me three reasons why it matters, seeing as we're into the realms of management study, and the three solutions which you would present to the board as adequate, sustainable and long term solutions??

Or you could just ignore it.

We need something iconic.....

Like West Ham, Liverpool and the Gooners...... Will fans of these clubs dislike their clubs badge? I doubt it.......

The motto on the badge is bobbins, and inward looking. 'The Towns Club' just sounds shite.....

No, you don't have to pay to see the badge, when you have paid they inflict the music on you. Anyway, that was part of a bigger picture designed to make the Bunker bigger better and faster, and it was a 'for instance' as it was a popular call but wasn't actually mine. The rest of it is actually working.

So take your advocate, and your devil.........

Ah I see.
Well actually I don't. Perhaps I should apply to you in future before I decide to believe something is important or not

I seem to remember the 'popular call' was not supported by several eminent bunkerites e.g. 'Mr Poolpower and Mr Snowy???

Nope, I don't follow that at all.

Lots of people were moaning about Tom Hark being played to death. Still do. At some stage, when we got involved with UTS, I noticed that they had about 1200 members which I thought was admirable for a club with a lot of parallels to ours. So one Saturday morning I floated the idea of a major recruitment campaign which would give us the membership numbers to be a representative body. As an example of the issues we could lobby I mooted the playing of Tom Hark as it was the days hot potato. Some said yes some said no, someone said the kids like it, which might have been Snowy, but then again if the dove of peace landed on Snowy's greenhouse he'd still hoy clemmies at it. Some said they wanted the Bunker to be a small closed community so we could all stay in the seventies when we were gorgeous.

But now we're more than 100 members up on those days of January, we can do the diplomatic thing, my original goal (see what I did there), and see what the proletar.....I mean members, think.

My only point is that after a breathtaking season and a few years where the popular moans have been dealt with, the last bastion of the moaning get has become the club badge. Because there's nowt else to moan about except ticketing, and at the end of the day, Brian, everyone who wanted one got a ticket.
