Probably best to keep away from pubs around Mary Gate and the Bootham side of the City if they are actively stopping fans getting in

Head to other side of Coney Street and you might have better luck that way The Old Ebor and The Slip Inn near Nunnery lane / Fishergate area may be worth a shout, good real ales to be had there

In our second already without any bother, not even seen a bouncer yet.

Just use a bit of common sense, split up into smaller groups to go in. Don't acted pissed or walk about singing.

A CIU club right outside the away end, 50p entry but more than welcoming.

In the Punchbowl now, no chew here either. Plenty of Poolies in.

Two of us ended up in a pub somewhere after the game, and on our way out a bouncer was stopping anyone going in. When asked why, he said that there were loads of Hartlepool fans in making it rowdy and the police said not to let anyone in until they had gone. Utter bullshit. No one being rowdy, just a busy pub.

Had no bother having a drink round city centre off the beaten track, just needed to use yer loaf and not go in the usual traps.

Exactly. I saw a few mob-handed groups of Poolies arguing with bouncers trying to get in places, the subtle approach works much better. Thankfully there's dozens of places to choose from. Possibly the best away day in the entire football league.

In football terms most of us yearn for the past, has York changed that much since the 70s? hardly , so got to be the best. Plenty of pubs, to suit all tastes, old fashioned ground, ten mins walk from city centre.

Never had any issue getting into any pub. Although the punch bowl stopped serving at one point early on because they said it was too rowdy. Decent day ruined by the football....
