My mother died in North tees 2 years ago this Easter . she fell and banged her head and hurt her hip the blood pressure machines would not work it took them 35 minutes to find one. then the hoist was not working to lift her onto a trolly and they could not find another. so after man handling her 5 times on and off the trolly and listening to her crying with pain every time i had to walk out of the hospital before i did some thing i would regret.

awful place on my experience.

They transferred mine to Hartlepool Hospice in a mini-bus because there wasn't an ambulance handy and they needed the bed. She very nearly died that afternoon, probably because you're not really meant to make patients who are in the final stages of terminal cancer sit up in a bumpy vehicle with no medical care. To be fair, the nurses and the mini-bus driver were very apologetic but it wasn't their decision to do it and their managers weren't prepared to say anything beyond 'it shouldn't have happened.'

Add that to the fact that they misdiagnosed the cancer in the first place and sent her home with some paracetamol and I've ended up with a pretty low opinion of the place. To be fair again though I think they might have secret targets set by the Coalition to liquidate the poor and old of Hartlepool and Teesside in which case they're doing a cracking job.

It's little secret that Healthcare provision up here is not fit for purpose. My Mrs is a senior Staff Nurse in Orthopaedics and she reckons North Tees is on its knees, and will be the next for the chop leaving...errr...James Cook as the one centre for the entire region, including Yakker Land.

This taxi-driver who is being cajoled into standing as MP on a 'bring back our Hospital' platform is being pushed to stand without having the slightest idea what he is getting into... stpid

Add into this the fact that the ruling Labour grandees could not have done the coalition's dirty work any better for them if they tried...

We are an inconvenience to this lot, and the town is a nasty little afterthought to the powers that be. ...but they did toss us the crumb of the One-Life. :angry-screaming:

With a son with complex needs it scares me to take him there. They never bother to read his notes, they have attempted to prescribe him drugs that he cannot take due to him taking asprin and have left him for hours in filthy rooms when he is at an elevated risk of infection. It really isn't good and we genuinely fear taking him there and we try and get him to the Freeman instead if we can help it, it's about time someone took a good look at this. We have lodged complaints and things improve for that one admission and then next time you go, same issues.

What a complete shit hole North Tees is, our lasses nana was taken in yesterday morning so we paid a visit last night. They constantly piled her with drugs which made her vomit, kept her in a freezing cold room for hours until they found her a room. The room she was in had 3 bed pans full of piss dotted about (not her piss) First time I've been and I'm shocked.

And still some people believe that privatisation has been good for the NHS.

The lack of funding in the NHS is shocking. The missus is a nurse at Sunderland and the stuff she has to put up with is beyond belief.

I couldn't do her job for the pay she gets, especially with the pay freeze and pension cuts they're getting.

...because the current will is to run it into the ground, forcing staff to do more with less, while managers hide in offices on over-inflated salaries.

Yes, the Panorama program was very enlightening. It was stated by doctors and nurses that it is basically on its knees. One doctor said sometimes he just feels like going home because they can't cope. The only one who said everything is ok was the chairman or manager of NHS England, who sounded just like a Tory politician. They need to get out of their offices and see themselves whats going on. My wife who works at both Hartlepool and NT and who used to really love her job, last week was so upset that they cannot cope with the workload, I told her to just go home, jack it in. That much stress is not healthy

Like offshore says, this is a civilised society and as such we should be prepared to stump up a little more via income tax to help pay for health and education. But decades of wankers in parliament and the media have pushed the linecthst higher taxes are bad. Where are the brave politicians who will stand up and ask us to pay more. Cos they'd get my vote any day

A sadly familiar story to all of us who have family trying to work to help people with both hands tied behind their backs. rakxe

...but the NHS is safe with Cameron, remember.
