I'm frankly astonished by how much people are flapping about the club usual over-reaction to the Rochdale ticket issue.

Can someone confirm that I haven't mis-understood-

a. The away end holds 4000

b. We very recently took a magnificent 1200 (no sarcasm - its was magnificent) a very similar distance to Stockport.

c. If you add up the number of season ticket holders who are likely to attend an away game to the amount of people who will have kept the last stub (almost no-one) you don't reach 1200

d. We are struggling in recent games to sell out the home sections despite being top - the Mill House Terrace has not been full in any recent game.

e.When the club sell 1500 (at the very most) tickets there will be 2500 for sale on the day.

See you all at Spotland.

Normally I'd be convinced by that but the support for big one-off games has a tendency to surprise me.

I remember Exeter when we needed to win AND we needed other results to go or way, just to get into the playoffs! There was the thick end of 1000 there.

We boasted about how we would take 5 or 6 thousand up to Sunderland. We took 10K. When Sheff Wed fans were on the message boards taking the piss out of our "pitiful" fanbase they were answered with much bravado. If we took 10K to Sunderland for a cup tie we could muster 10K all the way to Cardiff for a playoff final. It seemed an optimistic claim at the time yet come the day 17½ thousand were there. Most of them weren't regular Poolies of course. If only the hardcore went to the big games we'd be rattling around Spotland like bored Loids at the Stadio del Empty. But big games empty the woodwork.

Our away support has got better and better as the season has progressed until we have reached the point where, in terms of numbers in attendance for distance travelled, we have the best away support in the division. 850 at Wycombe (a suspiciously rounded estimate in any case) was a much more impressive turnout than the number we took to Darlo when you consider that High Wycombe if 260 miles away and Darlo is only a tenth of that. Rochdale is 115 miles and the title might be at stake.

If we did get 4000 tickets I would be confident we wouldn't sell them. But 3000 is possible, especially if results go well this weekend.

all true - saved me typing a reply

Wise words after the event. You don't really answer the exile point do you? Where is the sense in selling on a Friday to be posted out to people who need to leave before the postman arrives.

You have to have blind faith in the superlative administrative skills of those two bastions of modern office practice that they will have a ticket with your name on at the Rochdale ticket office before you depart on your 500 mile round trip. Feeling confident

The official site was updated to say that any phone orders will be able to pick their tickets up from Rochdale, which is good.

I'm still worried about having to wait until Friday to get a ticket, I'm more worried about the office actually answering the phone on Friday morning to be honest.

I still can't believe that they're only allowing one day for people without stubs to sort travel / accommodation out.
