£18 a fortnight if ur working I don't think is a great deal.
If you really want to go you'd find the time and the money.

Trouble is for some people they have to take more than just 1 person to the game, most people want a beer or two before or after the game, a programme, a pie, etc etc soon mounts up.

I would be over the moon if I saw change out of £50 from a match day without a season ticket, and that is just a home game. I didn't go last night because I decided that I would rather spend that money on Saturday for the league match. I have bills to pay and a holiday to go on next week, and we are now playing an extra home game that I will attend before the end of the month, so that will be over £150 from my household spent on footy in August.

September has 3 games plus I quite fancy MK dons away, October and November are cheaper but I can still see how if people are struggling or are worried about their jobs in any way that by not going to pools for a few months they could save a grand or more by just after christmas.

I am sure Pubey could think of a lot better things to do with £36 a month taking his kids to the baths, days out etc.

I personally would be at pools every home match if lived in the town, but thats because as you mention I have a full time job with nothing to pay for other than rent, as dont have a kid, wife, morgage etc

with the 3 cups as well as league games , its not uncommon for us to have 4 home games a month.

in august when the kids are off school and wanting new school uniform and you got holidays to pay for, its very hard for the low paid to go every game.

me and our holli will be going to the league games but cup games and away games are simply beyond my budget at the moment.

I was agreeing with you it was Victor Meldrew that was saying "if people wanted to go they could find money and time", it must be nice to live like that and have the money

True. If Pools are the most important thing in your life you'll be there every game no matter what other family or work commitments that you might have to forego.

pools the most important thing in your life ??????

is there anyone on planet earth for whom pools are the most important thing in their life.

surely everyone puts their family before football ?

not everyone is lucky enough to be in secure well paid jobs like ripper and lightning tree. and some of us have kids that want to go to games too.

i get to as many as i can, but would never put a game of football before seeing my kids, or putting food on the table.

Wooooossssshhhhhhh.

I wasn't there myself last night Mr F. It was a choice between spending half an hour with my boy between getting home from work and him going to bed or going straight to Pools after work.

And I'm not aware of what a "secure job" is, they don't exist in the industry that I work in. sadx

Ok, maybe I'm lucky that I only work Monday to Friday but my daughter can do without me for 2 hours a fortnight on a Saturday afternoon.
And yes, apart from my family pools are the most important thing.

No jobs not even mine are secured for life, I work in local government and I don't know if u noticed but spending cuts are aplenty soon.
I told you Npower are taking on, our lass earns 14k basic with good commission available so if ur desperate for a half decent wage try them.
As I've said if ur working 18 quid a fortnight is hardly going to break the bank. I've spent more in pizza hut in half a hour.

You are lucky, I think Pubey made that point in his reply to you he only see's his daughter on a weekend, so she cant do wthout him on a Saturday afternoon.

Can I just say back in the day when he didnt have commitments Pubey was ever present at pools and a lot of away matches, I know because I was with him. Things happen in life and I know he would be there like a shot if he could afford it or the time, I know he could do a lot more with his nippers with the £18 than two hours watching a game. Same as chip who nearly went to every game last season but due to G-Town closing didnt even go last night.

Every time I go home its always when we play at the Vic so I can go. Having a pop at people that would give their right arm to watch pools but are gutted becasue they have to tighten their belts or like me live about 3 hours from home isnt cricket.

Fair enough pal don't "shoot" me down, I wasn't in particular having a go at you.

Fair dos. The main days I used to see my bairn was Saturday and Sunday so I bought her a season ticket. It lasted 3 seasons then she got bored so I arranged to see her other days and times and moved round the corner from her so she could see me more often.

Not banking on owt mate, can't afford to.

I'm just hoping that I don't have to go abroad to work after this job finishes, or even worse, down south.

Although the worst case scenario would no doubt be Wales.

Building a new Nuclear Power Station, that must be the nearest thing to a job for life now, Hartlepool NPS took forever to build.

Was that a freudian slip? Do you want to run him down, or rub him down?

Well i'd like to run him down, in a big lorry full of p e g s , but if I was faced with living in Wales or rubbing him dowm with the oil, I'm afraid it would be the oil

Give us your cheap ticket then and you can pay the £18 a fortnight.

Trust me whilst the mrs is out of work £18 a fortnight is a lot!

I'm just suggesting what route I took.
You have to do these things to watch the team that you love.
You can't please all the people all of the time but I do my best.
If you're feeling the pinch a bit I'm experienced in budgeting skills, give me a shout if you need a hand:)

You don't need crappy bands to get the crowds flocking to Hartleppol.
Just spread the word you have found a paving stone with an image of Jesus on Maritime Avenue and they'll be here in their thousands.
