Perfect result. We blatantly threw the game! We CANNOT afford a cup run, its as simple as that.

That's a Sheffield United fan, who just happens to be located in Doncaster.

Their fans took it seriously enough.
600 supporters is not a bad following for a "meaningless" cup tie.

my comment was aimed generally at the growing lack of interest shown by clubs in the higher leagues, towards not only the league cup, but even the f.a. cup.

there were actually portsmouth fans saying last season that they would rather survive in the premiership ( a league they can never win ) than win the f.a. cup which they were 90 minutes away from winning.

A few years ago the red scousers had three games in a week. One was the FA Cup Final, one was the UEFA Cup Final, the third was the final league game against, I think, Charlton. They needed to win the league game to ensure that they finished in the top four. Loads of their fans where clogging up the phone lines saying that the league game was easily the most important. They were miles away from actually winning the league but these rarfs genuinely believed that merely qualifying for the cashcow was more important than actually winning two major trophies. I seem to remember that their manager even agreed with them!

Rafa was and is a rarf, I seem to recall him saying lower league clubs were a not needed and should go part time, the bearded toolio
