To settle an argument, if you were asked in a quiz, the question, 'How many different scoring sections are there on a dart board?', what would you say?

82?

Two separate bits of "single" plus a double plus a treble, times 20

Plus 25 + bull

yeah that adds up to 82!

each number has 4 scoring sections starting at the outside edge (double>single>treble>single) multiply 20 x 4 then add the bull and the 25 ring.

=82

simples

I would have said 4, namely singles, doubles, trebles and the bull. I think what MJ was originally going to say.

Well, I said 62. I suppose you could read it as 'different scoring-sections' but I read it as different-scoring sections. There aren't supposed to be trick questions in pub quizzes.

Erm, yes. That should have been what I said, following my own logic.... :uhoh:

lol you could even argue its less than 62 as you get 10 for hitting single 10 or double 5 etc etc.

A very rubbish pub quiz question.

And just for talbot, whoever come up with that question is a c&nt!

lol, sorry just sort of copied MJ's logic there and missed your previous post.

Is treble four the same-scoring section as single twelve?

I'm not going to tell you my tooth-ache remedy now.

No, sorry, MJ, I know it's no joking matter.
If you've got some oil of cloves, put 3 drops onto a quarter tea-spoon of olive oil, soak the mixture up onto a cotton-wool ball, and hold (or bite) the cotton wool ball onto the aching tooth for as long as pos. Should ease the pain while you get to a dentist...but the trouble not many households contain oil of cloves now.

I heard that people of my parents' generation used to do it. Often, they couldn't afford dentists' fees. I suppose the pain of the door handle thing was a small price to pay to get rid of the bad tooth.

I tried that, then somebody opened the door and the handle hit me in the mouth and knocked my tooth out .

Now there is a one I can vouch for. Last time I had really bad toothache will have been about 15 years ago. I used clove oil and it works a treat. Potent stuff, effectively anaethetises half your gob. Don't have any to hand but I took some tramadol this morning, and some paracetamol extra this afternoon. It works, but it knocks you a little queasy. I've been painless most of the day and I'm at dentists Tuesday.

Thanks grabec :coool:

...you could always turn up at Quakerz' front door and tell him something derogatory about his beloved Darlo, then hope he knocks the right one out.

Plus the '25', making five

I've have said four too. I always think of both the bull and 25 as middles.

But I'd have written 82 because I know how quiz writers' minds work. :)

At least that one is debatable. But I hate it when you have to deliberately put a dodgy answer.
Like "France and what other country have both Atlantic and Mediterranean shores?"

(did they really forget to include the word European?)
