I know there are people on here who do proper man-work for a living involving diggers and stuff, rather than tippy-tappying away on a jumped up typewriter like myself, so I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I've got a problem with a rainwater drain which floods the kitchen whenever it blocks and it pours down ... like last night. I've got a cowl thingy over the drain, but even so it still blocks and floods when there's heavy rain.

Can anyone recommend a company in the Durham area who does domestic groundworks/drainage who does a good job, but won't take my eyes out ...

Cheers

Typical bunker. A man has an urgent problem and his post gets hijacked.

Sorry, andy, am in the Durham area, but don't know of anyone. I'll ask around and get back to you if I come up with anything.

Hijacked sctatchinghead

I am asking a perfectly good question where is the drain situated ie is it next to the house wall or in the middle of a garden

And how is it getting the kitchen ie have you got a level access from a door to the outside or is there a step

Thanks Grabec and Mr V

Drain is on the house wall, taking water from drainpipe and waste water from sink/washing m/c and dishwasher - there is level access and there's no step

Cheers

Is there a manhole in your back that you could lift the lid while you run some water in the house and check the flow, by the sounds of it it needs rodding.

Level access is not good unless its slightly ramped and you have a door with weather bar at the bottom

where do you live
