Strictly speaking he has signed for Charleroi, just not the famous one. Kind of like being linked with Manchester United and then signing for FC United of Manchester

it isnt really is it chris ?

man utd and fc manchester arent one division apart are they ?

they look like a decent club, they have a much bigger ground than pools, they are full time, and seem to be a feeder club developing young talent.

hope it works out for him.

No, but I knew if I said it I would get a nibble

apparently the team that Rowell signed for is in one of 2 leagues in the THIRD level of belgian football, not the 2nd.

The first division is gash so i cant imagine the 3rd or 2nd tier of the 3rd or whatever it is is much cop.

It's one thing going abroad to play but its another going abroad playing in front of one man and his dog in some random belgium village.

surely there will have been English teams in League 2 or Conference who would have been interested?

He said the training setup over there was beyond anything here. After his trial he had his heart set on it.

He'll work his way up I'm sure, he's got plenty of time on his side.

Let's be honest, Intotheblue F.C have more advanced training methods than Pools rolfl rolfl rolfl

Good luck to Jonny Rowell. And Richie Jones.

Absolutely pisspotical that they've been released and the worst player in L1 (Richie Humphreys) is given another years contract confised

Still, season tickets will soon be past the 10,000 mark so everything's cushty

Probably a silly question but is he any good? I guess with you's releasing him the question kind of answers itself. What sort of midfielder is he? Does he have potential to play at a higher level? Does he put in effort? Does he go missing? Do you want Dean Furman?

Potentially he is championship level. Effort? When he can be arsed. Does he go missing? Yes. Dean furman? never heard of him.

ignore the above comment.

he is very talented and was badly managed along with a few others.

when played in his natural position he was very good, ran the midfield against stoke, and kept an england international quiet when we played west ham.

however as he wasnt signed by the current manager, and in order to keep humphreys sweet, he spent a large chunk of last season either played out of position, or on the bench. as a result he lost interest, though still got man of the match ( vs leeds and carlisle ) on the rare ocassions he was picked.

to be honest, the only opinion worth listening to on this board is mine. he is a proper footballer, massive potential, deffo capable of playing at a higher level, and you got yourself a very good signing.

Ignore the above comment.

Jones played well about 1 game in 6 and looked reasonable in about 2 of the other 5.

If he had the application and intelligence he could be a good player but apparently he's not all there.

Maybe that's why Mr Fireballs empathises with him so well?

I think Ritchie Jones has enough talent. I'm not so sure about his attitude. If he can sort himself out or Mr Dickov can sort him out then Oldham could have a player.
As is the norm...........time will tell.

I would have liked to see both Rowell and Jones have a season under Wadsworth.........but that's not to be unfortunately.
