Got a standard belkin pre-n whatchamadoodaa as my rooter, at my old house, plugged it in, plugged broadband in back, laptop picked up signal, job done.

Moved into new house, plugs it in, broadband plugged in back, laptop picks up signal...

Can't connect to internet, it connects to the rooter belkin pre-n whatchamagee but not to the internet.

Any ideas?

I know as much about computers as salty.

Wouldnt mind this working, i have to close the curtains everytime i wanna have a wank downstairs and it's so much easier to just pop upstairs with the wireless n stuff.

Ok so you've got a cable modem and are piggy backing a wifi router. I'm assuming that your connection is ok by cable.

Which model router?

You need to let your ISP know you've moved so that they can enable the line for you, even if you took your old telephone number with you.
I had the same problem because I assumed because I took the number with me the broadband would automatically work. All your laptop is doing at the moment is picking up your router.

I don't think thats his issue. He's got an wired internet connection through the cable modem but can't get a internet connection through wifi.
