Poor game 2 bad sides. Pools very poor in first half, it was dire to say the least. Second half pools the better team. O'Donovan missing good one on one with goalkeeper, a miss rather than a save. Monkhouse missed ballcompletely it striking his standing leg. Humphreys POOR all game Gamble gave ball away more than I've seen him since he joined in the first half improved in 2nd.

man of the Match for Pools McSweeney,on as sub for Austin.

Liddle out for 2 weeks with groin strain, Austin doubtful for Southampton back injury.

Nothing more to say dire game but least we improved second half.

Good point for both teams if Wycombe beat Exeter tomorrrow. Bad point for both teams if Exeter win.

End of report from a miserable and wet M62

Just got in from the game and to sum it up.............on the way out I overheard a Tranmere supporter say " surely we can't finish below that shite"..............funnily enough I was thinking the same.
The whole game smacked of desperation. The first half was awful, we just by passed the midfield and they missed a sitter.
We improved in the second half and shaded it, but lacked composure in front of goal.
It was a case of wouldn't versus couldn't.
Atrocious weather.
Still we gained another precious point and managed to keep Tranmere below us.
The Poolie support was magnificent.
Just enjoying a glass of whisky before hitting the sack.

I can think of another place in league one that used to be an intimidating place for away teams.

Well done everyone for going - the Pools support sounded quite loud at times on the radio tonight. Lets hope that's a corner turned in our away form.

it might have been if the next away game wasn't at Southampton!!!!! By the sounds of what folks have said on here - if Humphreys starts down there then we could be in for a real caning

Ah we are now attempting to unravel the ins and outs of Turner's mind.
Chip is right, Tranmere were there for the taking but we couldn't do it.
They will probably say the same about us.
I don't know about this being a hard league but the table certainly doesn't lie. Those two teams last night proved that emphatically.
However I would take another ten games like that, if it means we survive.

had turner brought jones on 10 minutes earlier we probably would have won the game, as him and mcsweeney were torturing them down that flank.

You know Turner's style though mate. Don't make substitutions until there's pretty much no time for them to have any telling effect!

The best chances of the game fell to us last night and but for our complete lack of confidence infront of goal we would have won.

But as I said after the game last night it was a worse result for them as winning was the only outcome that could have been seen as favourable given they were at home against a fellow relegation candidate.

Here's hoping for favourable results in today's League 1 fixtures.

We will certainly be made to pay by Southampton if Humphreys starts and then proceeds to turn the ball over like there's no tomorrow. Which, judging by his recent performances, he most certainly will!

They have to play Humphreys, they've already bought the hats, balloons, banners, booked the venue, printed the tickets and civic do for next season.

the only way Humphreys won't play is if he gets injured or suspended - and there's no chance of that cos he hasn't made any physical contact with an opponent for two years!!!

Its indictive of Pools I'm afraid, if your face fits etc.

I fully expect to see Humphreys getting a regular place next season too. We could have Ronandinho and Messi in the squad but neither of them would take Humphreys place in the first team.

I'm pretty sure Turner won't be managing the team next season, if he is he'll be stood in the Vic on on his own, but what I'm not at all sure of is that he won't just go back to his old role hovering over the top of the new boss like a cloud. I'm not sure Colin West won't be thrust on a new manager either.

We need something totally fresh, if they shunt Turner back upstairs (which will happen) it's not what we need. We have gone past that point now. They both need to go before more damage is done, Turner shouldn't be allowed anywhere near signing another player for the club after his efforts this year if he goes back to DOS this will still be the case.

Even with all these new players the full club feels stagnant and stale.

And the anti- Humphreys mob just wind themselves up into a frenzy even without any evidence or reason.

I'm not posting anymore on this thread and fully expect vitriol.

But for the record tonight was awful in the first half, worse than Millwall. Tranmere were as poor a side as you could ever hope to see. Pools had one tactic which was to drill the ball down the wing hoping to force a throw. Dismal.

The second half was a slight improvement. Much huffing and puffing. One save from their keeper in the whole match produced not by Pools skill but an awful defensive mistake setting O'Donovan away one on one.

No-one with the possible exeception of Collins , who had very little to do, had a game that rose above mediocre at best. Brown played his worst game in a Pools shirt and was utterly inneffectual. Sweeney was dismal, awful, pitiful. Gamble looks a shadow of the player that arrived. Humphreys was no better, no worse than anyone else. Playing mostly to his dismal orders of staying mostly narrow, not overcommitting and drlling the ball down the channels. I'm usually on the positive fringe of opinion on here but I can't remember a more disheartening game.

My night was capped off by the sight of Monkhouse and Sweeney (who were worth a rough combined rating of 4/10 with Monkhouse contributing 3.5) celebrating with each other as they walked off. What were they celebrating - getting paid for being shit?

McSweeney mediocre at best sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Brown played worst game in a Pools shirt, sctatchinghead had very little ball and it was his first START since November.

I'm not defending any player here but to have a go at Brown a player who has played probably 2 hours of first team football since November is a bit much IMHO

Brown should have started upfront with Monkhouse on the wing.

This illustrates another lousy thing to come out of the Yeovil match. It's convinced Turner that the new team set up, despite encouraging signs against Carlisle and Southend, clearly isn't worth bothering with.
