But they wont Scuddermore and the gits at the Premier League will bend over backwards to help them and not ruin the "brand".

FIFA cannot allow this as its clearly unfair to the rest of the league, alos who will buy these players can it only be non-domestic teams? If they can be bought by anyone (e.g. any team in the premier league) it makes a joke of the whole system.

I can't see the FA lobbing in 60m snodgers ((c)Mutley). They might help them along until they get relegated and then it's the Football League's problem and they'll have the parachute payments but it's looking like another Leeds United so book your hotels now.

I'm not fully up to date with restriction of trade rules BUT surely as the transfer windows were introduced (or so I think) after talks with the European commission that option seems highly unlikely to succeed.

All Portsmouth need to do to save money is come to an agreement with players to have contracts cancelled then they become free agents and can sign for other clubs, or they can simply sell them to clubs in countries that still have their window open.

Sweden Norway USA/Canada still have open windows.

i have read certain articles in the press which basically say its only a matter of time before a player challenges the window as a restriction of trade, so i wonder whether its foundations are built on sand...

Imagine if you could only move companies in summer or one month in winter, there would be a national uproar. I'm pretty sure a decent team of lawyers could get the window abolished if they tried.

I have no knowlege of law or business or anything like that, but i honestly can't see how a company can't be allowed to sell its assets in order to pay its debts and keep it afloat.

its madness.

Smalling was bought in the "window" and loaned back to Fulham. They can sell as many as they want the buying clubs CAN'T REGISTER them.

Copy and paste from part of Daily Mirror report today. Would have put a link but didn't think all needed reading.

Crisis-club Portsmouth are have been cleared to sell their players right away - and moved closer to doing a deal with the Premier League to pay their tax bill.

In the latest traumatic and historic twists, the hard-up outfit learnt that they will be able to trade their men outside the transfer window due to a little-known 'club in crisis' rule.

No Premier League team has ever exercised this hardship clause before and Pompey now have a matter of days to find buyers for their players to avoid a winding-up order on March 1.

What the F***??????? Club in crisis rule ????????? does that only apply to Premiership teams as well.

Crystal Palace come to mind sold a player cheap in window, maybe they should have waited.

What about the "little clubs" over the years (no disrespect meant here) like Accrington, Luton Rotherham Darlington could they have not been told of this "CLUB IN CRISIS" rule and allowed to sell outside the windows.

Brian Laws has made a good point: 'Allowing them to get a player out of the door... (assume to another Premiershit club)....and then he goes and scores a goal against us that could be the goal that takes us down - that's ridiculous.'
Right old can of worms......

Well maybe the difference there Mr Fetish is that the premiership is FA and the 'little' clubs you mention are Football League?? It was the League that got burned off ITV Digital and I didn't see the FA jumping in to help, they just laughed and banked another cheque off Rupert Murdoch.

The crunts.

They still wont be able to register them and therefore they won't be able to play if reports are right

Thought I read that if they do use this 'club in crisis' clause, they get a 9 point deduction.
