Predictably I'd be for it. Although should they wish to transfer to the regulars then they should do proper basic training. ^ months aggressive camping would teach youngsters basic life skills like keeping your shit together, ironing etc.

I would be worried that it would be the slippery slope to a conscript army so I would prefer a different organisation to the armed forces. Perhaps a 'boot camp' with military instructors but not officially the RM's/Army/RAF/Navy. keep them seperate.

Set up an activity campus for all kids not employed from when they leave school aged 16 until they're 18. What sort of vocational/educational activities would they be involved in. I take it both males and females would be included.

Will there be a bar?

Guitar lessons?

All those hormones?

I think they'd make up their own social acivities.

Oh to be young again.

There would be a lot of parents agreeing to that, get them off their hands for a while.

National service is wrong if you want to go in the forces fair enough the option is there for you at present you shouldn't be forced into doing it.

Here's a thought and I know its positioned slightly to right of A. Hitler but how about we sterilise ALL criminals.. no ifs no buts no wherefores..You commit one violent crime and you get the snip or sterilised..no more pay checks.. and no more progeny from the scum classes.. If it proves successful in getting rid of them we move the scale further down until eventually theres no crime or no scum..

It would never work, there's always that element who whatever method you use as a incentive would do nothing, no matter what sort of punishment you threaten. Also the susceptable one's would be taken advantage of while in there by the devious element.
As for persistent criminals, you need a better deterent to turn them around, I personally would devote more time to humiliating them. They should be put in stocks in the middle of the shopping centre, with a big barrel of rotting veg for people to throw at them, or a large display board with the words "this weeks arseholes" at the top, and their picture and name on it.
