IOR don't seem to care what division we are in.

IOR would be happier if we were in League 2 winning games, getting bigger crowds. I also think thats what Turner wants

That is exactly what I think.....

What difference does it make to them what division we are in, as they say they are loseing money anyway, so if we go down and have a good season in league 2 they get the crowds back.... so if we go up and down between league ! and 2 it could in theory be better for IOR....

I dare say a fair number of the fans would prefer us to be good in league 2 compared to absymal in league 1. Lets face it, playing these 'big' clubs week in week out ain't all its cracked up to be. I'd prefer to be winning at Accrington and Macclesfield that losing 5-0 at home.

You haven't been since 2006.
So what's your excuse for not going since then :)

I'd go along with that.
I'm sick of seeing us submit so meekly to all these so called big teams.
Give me Rochdale, Rotherham and Barnet anyday.

I think we have some good players and I think we have some decent players. What should never happen is what did yesterday, anyone can accept losing a game of football. Bloody hell we're Pools fans it's something we've got used to over the years but what we won't accept is us not competing. The way the team was set up was all wrong, the body language was all wrong and what ensued was horrible to watch, men against boys in every sense it was painful.

Somebody has to be accountable for that and I'm afraid the buck stops with Chris Turner, he has signed a lot of players but has he really thought about the elements you need to build a good team? For one we have no pace in forward areas, only Andy Monkhouse his really capable of going beyond a man with a bit of trickery. It is no coincidence that we haven't had a penalty this season, that is not down to bad luck. When was the last time you saw one our players drive into the box with the ball, non of them try to beat a man.

We have finally, according to Turner signed our holding midfield player, great. But what does he do? Plays him with Ritchie, what was Turner expecting from them as a pair? Who was going to get forward and into the box? Or were we playing two holding midfield players? Did either of them get into MK's box during the game? We just had no shape, Jones tucking in search of the ball leaving Sweeney exposed as Lewington and Chadwick combined. With that team he sent out how honestly did he see us winning that match?

Then he comes out and insults your intelligence by suggesting that nobody could be doing a better job than him this doesn’t really cut it after you’ve witnessed such a disjointed shambolic mess!!

Lets go back 5 years, the ref didn't think that Westwoods touch of the Wendies player was a foul, and we held out and won the game. The next season we've finally made it to the 2nd level of the English League pyramid. We struggle all season, against teams with much bigger reputations, budgets and fanbases. But come May we've scraped together enough points to finish 4th bottom on goal difference. We start the next season and do it all over again. Now we're back up to date, still in the Championship, would fans want us to stay there or go back down to League 1 where we can compete better, or continue to struggle 'out of our depth'.

I know were I would prefer to be, trying to kick the arses of teams and fans who think they are better than us.

Thats the view of the die hard fan who wants to see their team at the highest level possible even if its a struggle to stay there. Its the bandwagon jumpers that are never satisfied. A few seasons of obscurity at any level and they all welcome to the board & think of any excuse not to go. Athough you got dicked yesterday I reckon (as an outsider) that you have a decent squad but if they are underperforming then its down to whoever is picking the team to make them perform. If he cant do that then theres only one option, but do IOR have the bottle to do it? Or is the HUFC budget fully spoken for this season & IOR arent willing to stretch it further to employ a new manager & backroom staff?

I don't think IOR are short on bottle. Their record on getting shot of managers is as good as anybody else's. They may not have the desire to do it at the moment, even if it was just to prove that they do it when THEY consider it needs doing.
As for your question regarding the budget...........who knows. They don't involve us in that part of their decision making. Were darlo fans kept au fait with the day to day budgeting of the club?????

I wasnt expecting you to know, it was a rhetorical question. All Im saying is that could be one reason why they seem to be sticking with Turner.

But IOR never get rid of managers on the basis of results do they? isnt it always down to "off the field" events?

They're an oil drilling and recovery company and the mentality of that industry is the long term view. As far as this season is concerned the IOR synopsis and conclusion will be that overall the season is none too shabby so far.

Position: 12th of 24

P WDLFA Pts
25-8-6-11-32-38-30

Which is acceptable.

Mind you, oil companies should also look at siesmic reports.

Doesn't Ken have a few rules for managers such as don't embarrass the club and don't get relegated. Well I think losing 5-0 at home is quite embarrassing and Turner did his best last year to take us down, hopefully he won't get a chance to finish the job this season.....

You find a player as good as that who wants to play in front of conference crowds and I'm sure pools would have an interest in signing him.

Players like that come rarely. As Joel made at his leaving do - he was desparately disappointed that his time in England had been spent at Pools when he expected to be playing at a much bigger club.

Total bollocks.

A footballer wants security and to be paid a decent wage. That's why 14 players have joined Pools recently, at the end of day average attendance has fuck all to do with what they take home every month to pay the bills. I remember what he said and it was that he wishes he'd had the oppourtubity to play at a higher level while he was in England, and probably only his injuries stopped that.

I was glad you put a title on your post PJ.

You say footballer's don't care about size of crowd they play in front of. Watch Nelson's interview on arrival at Norwich.

Then you agree with me about Porter's disappointment.
