What about vanilla slices? Take the roof off and eat that first, or go for the lot at once and sod the consequences?

with a vanilla slice, I take the lid off with the bulk of the cream filling.
I eat the boring base bit first with the remainder of the creamy deliciousness, then savour the wondrousness of icingy lid and vanilla cream.......oh god, I want one now more than I want anything!!!

damn you grabey baby!

The best vanilla slice I've ever had was from a proper baker in Keswick. Its pastry melted in the mouth and the middle was......mmmmm.......indescribable.

Anyone remember Devon Splits. A bun about a foot long with lashings of cream and jam inside.

They were sold in the bakers which was a few doors down from What Shoppes yon side of market hall.

They were delicous
