The problem I have is that you seem to suggest we should spend £20,000 a week wages on players in an attempt by IOR to show they are 'serious'. This 'cartwheel' signing just smacks of the Asprilla to me.

I don't doubt IOR's commitment to the cause, and their intention to have us as a Championship club - but it will be following in the mould of Scunthorpe, and not Leicester City.

The investment will be there - just not to the level you suggest.

Can you show me where I have said we should spend £20k a week on one player. I don't know what Michael Brown is on. It was PJPoolie who suggested he was on that amount.
Also I never said IOR were prepared to pay it either. I suggested the wages would be underwritten by another benefactor.
If you are going to argue against information I am passing on, then at least try and get it right.
You seem quite sure that the investment will be there.......your words.
So perhaps you will enlighten us as to what that investment will be, what it will be on and who will provide it.
I'm all ears. Or are you making wild statements because crack is now supplied on tap.

I know when he was a squad player at Spurs he was on around £22,000 a week, Premiership wages have gone up since. It's just a guess but I doubt many Premiership starters are on as 'little' as that. It's likely his wage is higher.

derwent you normally talk a lot of sence but you have said nothing in this post of proof it all if's buts' and maybes. You say we are aiming for the playoffs and promotion, personally all i want is for us to finish midtable anything else is a bonus.

Were you that bloke who won the euro millions last week of over £50million quid as you seem to know a lot about this mythical backer

I wasn't going to say any more on this thread, Mr Compo but as you have asked a few questions and out of courtesy to you, I will attempt an answer.

1. Thanks for the sense bit, I try my level best to be constructive and talk sense.

2. Until any deals are done on the ground, new players or further investment it will always be ifs buts and maybes. Isn't it always so?

3. I personally am not saying we are aiming for the play offs etc., simply because I am not in a position to do that. What I did say was that the club are making no secrets of their ambition in that regard. I agree with you that consolidation would do me as well. Then there is the question of where do we go from there. That question is being addressed.
However, getting to and staying in the championship requires further investment in players, the ground etc. There also needs to be investment from the supporters as our current gates are not enough to sustain a league club, never mind a championship club.
The investment has to come from either IOR being prepared to pump more money in on top of their current contribution or take on investment partners. One ( or both) of these options has to be fulfilled and will be fulfilled. My source is not just one person but an ear to the ground gleaning of information WITHOUT adding two and two and getting five. I will not be drawn further than that.
4. Alas no, I have not won £50m.
Anybody who cares to ask the right questions of the right people will see where I'm coming from.
That is my last word on this thread other than wait and see.
