If you can watch the extended highlights on Poolsworld you can make out comments in the background calling Boydy rubbish.
Boydy is Boydy. He can delight and frustrate at the same time. All flair players are like that. They try the outrageous and impossible things at times. When they come off they are wondered about but when they don't...............
Boydy is the type of player that can turn a game in a second, like he did with his goal on Saturday.
My opinion is that I'm happy he is with us. I think him and Brownie will develop something between them as long as we try to play football and they stay fit.
At Swindon Boydy was awesome.

Which I do religiously, 4.25 in :'Boydy, man, you're useless........'

Now I know before I'm pounced on that highlights are just that, the best bits. All I could see in the first half was Boydy chasing, harrying, defending from the front and making a right old nuisance of himself when we didn't have the ball. Some of the stuff him and the Godfather of Soul did were sublime during the clip. Even the goal was sheer opportunism, it looked like the defender was happy with the corner.

I can't comment on the other 75 mins though. He could have been bobbins but he still won us the game.

Looks like you seen more of the game than some who were there, mate.

I've seen Boydy in about 10 games this season, and I reckon he's much more of a complete player than when he first played for us.

He seems much better in the air, is generally stronger, reads the game better, and does a hell of a lot more chasing and harrying than he used to.

I don't know if he is fully fit yet or not, but he's hitting the net often enough and creating stuff for others too so we can't complain really.

Adam Boyd is Adam Boyd. He's a frustrating player but one who can score in every single match he plays, not many people have that ability. The last half hour on Saturday was Boyd somewhere near his best. If we can get that more regularly then we have a 20+ goals a seasonm striker.

Concurring with that, Mr Nottingham.

I like Adam a lot, and he's brilliant and all that, but surely he's not good in the air?

Ah. Right.
It looks as though he's getting over it though.
That's a relief anyway.

I don't think he's brilliant in the air he wins a few flick on's and has scored some great goals with his head but he's always been much better when we get the ball into his feet.Nothing against Behan because I think he'll do alright for us in the long run and has a big part to pay this season but I really hope James Brown can stay fit and get chance to form a partnership with Boydy. A few signs were there to see on Saturday that it could be a good one, plus with those two up front we'll play more to those players and more importantly the whole teams strengths. It was no coincidence that we played a lot more football on Saturday.

Concurring.
I don't think Mr Nottingham was suggesting he is brilliant in the air, more like improving along with his all round game. That's how I read it anyway.

I realise that, also talk of him not being the same player as last time in my opinion is nonsense.

In a Pools team playing the right way and a run of games that extra sharpness will return and we'll see a much more rounded even more effective version of Adam Boyd. £80,000 very wisely spent by Pools if you ask me. We basically loaned him out for a couple of years for a tidy sum  FFS at 27 he's still not even at his prime.

In full agreement, PJ.
I am confident that Boydy will be a bigger asset than last time or at least as good.
His performance at Swindon in a Pools shirt ranks as one of his best for me.
Long may it continue.

No, I agree, he wasn't suggesting anything. He was saying that he thought Adam had got better in the air. And I was suggesting that I thought Adam hadn't done that.
Nothing to make a song and dance about.

You're both right, I don't think he is brilliant in the air, just that he has improved in that department.

He is better at winning the ball when he does a kind of sideways attempt to flick on rather than facing the ball when it is played to him. It's hard to describe but he kind of goes at rightangles to the defender rather than being parallel with him.

To be expected Tone home town lad in Church street he will always get grief off a drunk no matter how well he is doing.
JB and Adam up front is magical.
