but she's being a bit of cow whinging about his handwriting and spelling mistakes in the letter that he sent...

I know she may have an axe to grind but I feel she's being disingenuous complaining in this manner.

Janes is not very common surname and is very easily read as James..

I know Brown's not everyones cup of tea but I do feel he's doing this out of the right intentions he could easily get some flunky to type out a letter and sign the bottom if he wanted too.

I've actually found myself feeling a little sorry for Brown on this one but I suppose it's hard to imagine how that woman feels. She's lost her son, put yourself in her shoes he's given his life for his country and it's leader can't be arsed to get his name right.

Like I say he could just got it typed out and signed the bottom... she's just being a cow and trying to make some anti-war point.

I'd even go as far as saying SHE is actually disrespecting the memory of her son by whinging about the poor hand writing and spelling mistakes.

For Joel's sake its a HANDWRITTEN letter of condolence like I say its a lot more than any of the MILLIONS (yes that's millions btw) killed in previous conflicts got from the Prime minister

I agree as well ... the Sun will be scraping up all sorts of crap between now and the election, but this is piss poor. Brown is everybody's favourite target, but this is going too far.

It is as people have said embarrassing.

Much as I detest Brown I also agree. He took the trouble to hand write a personal letter and he deserved better than this.

Nah.

He's a one-eyed-Scottish-bastad and he deserves all that he gets.

I absolutely agree with you. I've just read the letter in the newspaper and I don't know why this woman is upset.

The PM's handwriting may not be the neatest. Mine isn't that good either. It caused quite a lot of trouble at school.

There's always the old joke that doctors and people in the educated professions seem to have terrible handwriting.

But if I got a letter of condolence from the PM about a child of mine who died in the army, I would still have that letter framed and put right next to a picture of that child.

That letter is still something to be very proud of in my opinion.

Bollocks.

The point of writing something is so that somebody else can read it.

Poor or scruffy handwriting is a sign of retardation and ignorance.

Hope that helps.

Why is it rubbish?

If you're not retarded you can write sufficiently neatly for somebody else with a modicum of intelligence to be able to read it.

If you're not ignorant you'll care whether or not somebody can read what you've written.

Far from easily legible either!

The day she pops her miserable clogs I will party like it's 1999. FACT! :!:

If, for argument's sake, Brown had drafted a polished , word-processed missive for one of his aides to despatch, The Scum would certainly have barracked him for being distant, cold and impersonal.

Rock/Hard place...

He couldn't win either way, and is probably picking up quite a sympathy vote at the moment, because of the 'over the top' reaction to 'lettergate'. bbolt

They are exploiting an emotionally vulnerable woman to make Brown look like a twat.

I heard heard extracts of the tape of the phone call earlier and it's clear that she had been baited to say things about equipment and the like. Why record the conversation? I'm guessing she had the equipment to do that lying around in the house.....

It's all pretty grubby to be honest.

I'd love it the their was a massive backlash towards the Sun over this.

Even Sky are starting to um and err about but still managed to wheel out some old croc to support the agenda.

The average greiving mother always has equipment around to record a phone calls from the primeminister in case he should decide to ring up..

This stinks Brown actually cares enough to send these letters (Tory Blair or anybody before him didn't bother their arses to write to the loved ones of the fallen). The whole affair stinks and it is disrespecting all the other people who lost loved ones in this conflict.

They can't sell the Scum in Liverpool because of it spouting shite about Hillsborough I hope they get the same situation all over the country now.

I have never entertained that comic anywhere near my house...........looks like my decision is vindicated.

Using the definition " retard" ( courtesy of Mr Ripper ) the s** is written by retards for retards.

On a point of order.....isn't it necessary to inform a caller that you are taping the conversation???

Gordon Brown ought to sue the arse off that comic............for as much as he can................and then donate the cash to the British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Making political capital from a grieving mother and a Prime Minister whose sole intention was to sympathise with her is cheap, nasty and downright disgusting.

I am sure Messrs Cameron and Clegg agree with me. If they didn't they will now considering the swell of support for Brown.

What on earth's the point in educating people and then leaving the Sun lying about for them to read?

I can't believe the Sun published that front page withdrawing their support from Labour after the Party Conference.

A bit of a stupid thing to do in my opinion.
