I went to see my bairn doing a dance event at the Art Gallery,as the clock struck 11 the staff all stood silent with heads bowed,as did a few of us punters on the way in then along came 3 or 4 people "Wots goin on here, why isnt this open" the worst of it is they were folks in their mid 50s who were wearing poppys.
One guy said quietly "Remembrance day silence" & they then went quiet like the rest of us so I think it was carelessness rather than malice, still,I expected better from mature adults.

So where were you at 11 o clock ?

I was at work, noticed that these bathroom fitters at the house next door didn't stop like.

My mrs was out bible bashing and I told her not to knock on anyones door at 11.00.
Way to make the Jovo's even more unpopular!!

Aye, I stood at 11 and remembered the lads we left behind. RIP Brothers in Arms.

I was in a lecture at 11, but I took time to observe two minutes silence after I got back.

Unfortunately not. Lectures finish at 5 mins to the hour and begin at 5 mins past the hour, in order for students that maybe have to walk the entire length of the campus to get to their lecture.

So where you not on your way to a lecture then? Or at least sat waiting for it to start?

I was at home too today, but I turned the TV on, in time to watch the ITV news stop and observe the silence, with pictures from around the country.

It's the same at my Uni; as a result the lecturer in the lecture I was in held the 2 minutes silence at 10 past to make sure everyone was there and settled.

Well no, but since everybody was chatting to each other before the lecture started and there was no organised way of stopping at 11am, then it didn't happen unfortunately.

But, as I say, as soon as my lectures finished I stopped to observe my own two minute silence.

I'd have thought someone as upstanding as you would have organised it yourself....you could have even put a sign on the door saying....'2 Minutes Silence In Progress'....to stop people bursting in!!!! confised

Or you could have put this on the door....

Well since it was you saying someone should have stood up to those Celtic fans singing IRA songs then I think it only right you could have asked a few students to stfu.

I was at work and we had 2 mins silence although someone felt the need to have to ask the P/A to the directors if this was ok.

There response was if it was ok with the managers. Which I thought was shocking even feeling the need to ask permission to do the 2 mins silence and their response the tw@ts.
