I'm not struggling with any part of it.

I commented on the minimum sentence not what the judge said afterwards.

He might not be ever released into society, the kid clearly has serious issues mentally.

Where in my post did I say I think he will be released in 3 years time? Or was that a question?
My opinion is that he should never be released, if he can't learn his lesson from the first punishment he'll more than likely always be a threat to kids.
Don't you think the minimum sentence should have been a bit longer?

It's not really a sentence it says he's been 'detained' for a mimimum of three years which to me suggests he is mentally ill.

whether he's been sentenced or detained the fact remains that in 3 years time he will be considered for release.

I just think that the minimum detention/sentence or whatever it may be, should have been longer.

The judge's sentencing powers are set by the Law Commission http://www.lawcom.gov.uk/.

He's gave him the maximum sentence he can .

I'm sure it is a requirement that prisoners should be given a minimum time before their sentence will be reviewed...

Lets face it form the judges summing up I doubt (and hope) this vile being will ever get out.

the lad was 14 when he began his offending, and he is what we used to call before political correctness came in " backward. "

he will be detained until he is no longer considered a danger to society, which the trial judge decreed would not be for a considerable length of time.

the judge isnt also expected to specialise in the field of child psychology, and to have fully examined the laddie and made a diagnosis during the trial.

theres prisoners like that charles bronson who have been eligible for parole for donkeys years and havent a cat in hells chance of getting out.

He doesn't sound 'backward' to me, quite the opposite!

There are numerous cases like this were the perp has been released in a short space of time

And don't forget, this isn't a fraud case like the Darwins

The reason why he won't get out IS the statement from the judge... I'm sure he'll be locked away for a very long time.
