I heard some old bloke whiging about Monkhouse being no good yesterday,I guess it must be just a coincidence that our only dropped points in the last 11 games were with him sitting out, which was also our only goal conced in 10 too(he didnt play in the cup at Macc either did he ?).
It would have been nice to keep Duffy, but for me Monkhouse is Januarys important signing.

He did fine. Went on some good mazy runs, stretched their defence, even put over some good right footed crosses.
At times the defence let him run down the wing and stopped him cutting inside but it wasnt his fault he was played on the opposite wing.
Not bad for straight back up north and into the team again.
A great team effort by all and Monkhouse was a good part of it.
Should have scored of course and I wondered if he bottled that header but overall a good game.

i think its safe to assume he was made to swap flanks for his defensive capabilities. he coped easily with dyer.

he got less and less out of lewington going forward as the game went on once the ginge worked out he was all left foot and kept showing him the outside.

that said i felt i felt he produced another very solid performance, possibly his best in a pools shirt. he has yet to convince me that he is capable of performing at a higher level, but he is certainly winning me over.

But you are never convinced about signings performing at a higher level

I think I'd be worried if you said he could

i'll be the 1st to admit i questioned monkhouse early in the game but he just got better and better. hes a true poolie he settled in well and done some good stuff out there, i also was questioning sweeney until he scored but hey we won, 3 points and thats all that matters

Monkhouse is strong, wins the ball, rarely gives it away, and can be a threat at times as well. He is an excellent and intelligent signing.
