A pretty easy win against a Swindon team who offered very little without Douglas.

We had a great start when Browny headed a cross in at the far corner of the 6 yard box. To be honest he could have had three by 15 minutes into the game. We then stopped playing the ball on the deck and Swindon had a fair bit of possession and their two wingers were causing problems down both flanks but balls in were poor and strikers offered very little. Collins and Liddle were commanding.

After 30 minutes we double the lead when a Browny picked out Monky and he slid home from 15 yards. He then ran to the Do Rodgers stand and ran 30 yards pointing to the name on his shirt and was promptly booked by the ref. All a bit silly really. We could have scored again as the Swindon team fell to pieces for 10 minutes.

Second half we were in total control and Swindon didn't create any real chances. We didn't offer too much up front until Larkin came on and he had a couple of half chances chasing long balls.

Flinders - 8 - commanded his box, puched clear a couple of times and held onto everything Swindon fired at him. Good distribution.
Austin - 7 - solid game against a tricky winger
Liddle - 8 - solid game, didn't put a foot wrong
Collins - 9 - dominated in the air, a real leader - my MoM
Hartley - 7 - a tricky winnger to deal with and did ok
Browny - 7 - took his goal well but could have had more. Drifted out of the game at times
Jones -7 - broke up play well without doing anything too special
Humphs - 7 - read the game well and organsied well. Some wayward passes
Monkhouse - 8 - good outlet and nicely taken goal. Should have hit the target with a chance in the second half
Behan - 7 - made a nuisance of himself. Made some poor passes with the ball at this feet that caused danger to Pools. Needs to keep it simple.
Boyd - 8.5 - always able to get the ball down under control and panic defences

Subs
Larkin - 7 - looked lively and had a couple of half chances
Bjornsson - 5 - doesn't look likel a league 1 player. Needs to be a lot more physical and compete for balls
McSweeney - 7 - competent without doing anything special

Turner/West - 8 - brought Jones back in and made sensible subs at the right time. Always enthusiastic.

Wilson - 1 - for his sprint down the tunnel at the final whistle

Best performance I've seen this season. The whole team played as a team and could have at least doubled, maybe trebled the score.
We restricted Swindon to half chances, all of which were comfortably dealt with.
Both centre backs were rocks, ably backed up by no nonsense full backs.
The only guy who looked out of place was the iceman, but time will tell on him.
My performance of the day is reserved for Flinders. He did nothing spectacular, never made any super saves, but he fills me with total confidence and I'm sure he has the same effect on his fellow defenders.
How the hell we managed to get this guy, I'll never know. He wouldn't look out of place at the very highest level and I'm prepared to stick my neck out and say that is exactly where he's heading.
Wilson must have been shaking his head in disbelief at Gary Liddle's performance.....the lad never broke sweat.
I'll reserve the best till last............a Poolie chant of Wilson Wilson what's the score...Wilson what's the score. Magic.
Great great day. clappp clappp clappp clappp clappp
