Why do so many of you have NTL as a provider? I just did an IP test and was amazed at how many posters use them.

I always found it unreliable. BT is a bit more expensive at £17.99 but you get 250 openworld minutes a month with it. That means you can check your emails at every little chef, MacDonalds and countless other places in every major town and city.

More to the point I've yet to experience a problem with it.

I use it because it works! Never had any problems with the connections, that I can remember.

I'm paying £25 a month!!!!

So was I , till I rang them up to terminate my contract, telling them I was transferring to Sky.
A very nice man offered to half the price.
I told him I be happier to if he matched Sky's tenner a month, which he did (for 6 months, anyway). So I'm now paying £9.99.
Get on the phone !

We decided to go with TalkTalk, once it got up and running it's been fine - it's using the same copper to the exchange of course. Not everyone's had happy times with them - maybe we've been lucky - but given our average monthly bill with them is less than we were paying BT just for Broadband, it was a no-brainer!

I made the same switch and it was virtually effortless and very quick! We must be one of the lucky few!

As for those paying too much, you should always threaten to leave when your contract comes to an end for anything. For instance, my mobile contract ended and I called customer services saying I was going to leave. They offered a £100 cash back and a tenner a month off my bill. I refused; they then offered the £100 and £15 a month off! In effect, I've had a free phone for close to a year!

I've been with NTL for years with no real problems. I'm on the £30 free calls package with 2mb Broadband. I've got an extra set top box upstairs which costs £15. I'm tempted with Sky 'cos it seems a bit cheaper. Is there a comparison site that will show which is the best value?

im in the process of switching from sky satellite to ntl cable for me televised sport. its 3 quid a month more but i couldnt take any more of sky. once upon a time you only lost yr signal in a storm. then it was wind, then rain, and now even in seemingly calm weather it goes.

if the weathers bad i dont even bother turning it on any more.

Odd, I never have a problem. Do you have a lot of trees around your place? Besides, NTL take their signal from the Astra satellite too so if its down for sky its down for NTL.

Uswitch is pretty good, I changed gas and electric with them and everything they said turned out to be fact.

all on ntl should phone em now

they offering new customers phone,tv and bband for 30 bish.

if you pay more, phone them, boot off and they'lllet you have if for the 30.

Cable broadband is much more stable than your bog standared asymmetric digital carry on that Bt offer - mmmm new fibre optic cables, no more than 10 years old to carry my signal or a 60+ year old degrading copper wire. ntl for me

Broadband and TV connection is fooking gash, it was 'down' the other week(right on Christmas) our lass rang up...."we cant get someone out till Wednesday(4 DAYS AWAY  )....she slammed the phone down....7 hours later it was on.No courtesy call saying "im sorry about your kids not being able to watch Balamory or fooking Tikkabilla and i apologise profusely for them smashing the house to bits and biting the dogs ear off in their angst...but it is Christmas and we dont have any engineers in the area, apart from the ones who take 7 hours to do a half hour job, and do make sure your bill is paid on time otherwise we will send you a reminder"

Im switching to another service next week
