I really dont think that is true MrB. Im one of the 'doubters' of CT but I sincerely hope he is a success. He is slowly but surely going up in my estimations with the way he is going about things right now. The 'feel good' factor is slowly returning and he is doing a good job so far this season.

I would say however that while it is wrong to write off manager after only a handful of games, it is equally wrong to just presume everything is going to be rosy. Its still too early this season to say that it is going to be a good season and CT will get things right. The division looks very tight and a few points at the end of the season could well mean the difference between midtable and relegation.

there is a thread on the Vital Hartlepool message board that was posted this morning, stating that if Turner starts with Behan & Sweeney then the poster has written off Turner as a tactical idiot and is not the man for the job!!! (notice the result tonight and the quality of the performance by the said two players is irrelevant).

This person WANTS Turner to fail, he is desperate for it.

Now i dont put yourself in that bracket Grave, however there are a fair few would give their right nut for Turner to fail and its sad, no, THEY are sad.

Im no Turner fan but no one can deny he has possibly built the strongest squad we have ever had. I hope he suceeds.

How anybody could want Turner or anybody else at Pools to fail is beyond me. If whoever is manager succeeds then we all succeed.
I want them all to succeed.
People do get frustrated at times and criticise everything and everybody in sight. The reason is that they want success and are giving vent to their frustrations when they don't get it.
This is the best squad we've had for years, you only have to look at the bench for that. Turner, with the backing of IOR, is responsible for assembling it and full credit to all of them.
I have never heard a Pools regular say to me or anybody else that he/she wants Turner to fail. I've heard plenty say they would like somebody else as manager, but that is what fans say when things aren't going right.
As for disliking Turner because he went to Wednesday, they are his hometown team, his boyhood heroes, the football love of his life. Surely no one begrudges the man a crack at managing them.

I know someone that didnt go on saturday because he "couldnt face any more of the poo on offer".

I fookin kid you not. banghead stpid

I've heard people say " never again" but they are there the next home match.
On Saturday a guy, who has been going for years, said to me that he was not enjoying it at the moment. That was before we scored though.
There are obviously more that just a few of these people and we have to get them back, simple as.

"Supporters" of a club who want the team to lose simply to undermine the standing of the manager are pond-life. They have no right to be called supporters and should be given a good kicking. Even if that two-faced, half-wit, public school-educated, chinless get David Cameron was Pools manager, I'd want them to win. Honest.

It's not bog-standard frustration or disillusionment I'm talking about, but a genuine wish to see him fall flat on his arse regardless of how that hurts the team. I am not kidding, the reaction to the 3-0 win at Oldham from one person I know was "great, that'll no doubt get him another month". It's a disease, it really is.

Yeah well, people use football for different reasons according to their own personalities, innit. There's something about footie that lends itself to that. As you suggest, lots of people go along to matches in order to find an escapegoat for their own inadequacies.

A psychiatrist would have a field day with the Millhouse!

If Chris Turner fails, then by definition Pools fail.
Who in their right minds would want that?
No true Pools supporter, thats for sure.

I know people who want Turner to fail, which is beyond me.

I know I'm much happier than I was this time last year. We have a man who has seen the areas of weakness and done his damned best to do something about it. We also have a man who is trying to build bridges with the fans and has genuine passion for the club. We also have some good players and a good squad.

For those reasons alone he should have all our backing.

Over the years Pools have had managers using the club as a stepping stone, who couldn't give a toss about Pools or the fans as long as they could move on to a "bigger" club. This cannot be said of Chris Turner now, even though it applied during his first stint here. The job he is doing with the team is excellent (compare it with what DW did) and the job he is doing with the fans is even better, though I suspect at times he has to battle with Ken H on this front.

Even in his first stint with the club I do not think he used us as a stepping stone.
Which one of us in his place would not want to manage his home town club?I think it probably says a lot about the mans character that the club took him back when they did.
I think we all know that the club does not allow itself to be messed about.

No.

Just the ones who upped sticks to Yorkshire to sit in the countryside passing judgement on their home town whilst in hiding from the mob with the burning torches who drove them out of town for being a suspected paedophile.
