He says ...... "We can't say the football team is the best thing about Hartlepool..."

For example, "Which of these is the best thing about Hartlepool: the pubs, the restaurants, the people, the football team..."

Athough to be truthful I'm more inclined to imagine the plank said what he did without prompting.
