the semi final last night and not a single comment about who went through!

Sorry I haven't been on for the last day and a half. My computer wouldn't start up and there was a loose memory board inside the tower - as such, I haven't been able to get on here since 8am yesterday. We've just an engineer come round to fix the computer.

I saw the 1st Semi-Final last night and managed to predict six of 10 final qualifiers through the quality of their songs only.
Four of the entries that qualified really did surprise me, but we'll have to see how the voting in the final goes before we can see whether they had an impact.

The best song on Tuesday night was probably the Maltese entry, which I voted for in the end, as the UK could in Semi Final 1.

Also, I've just remembered that Chelsea fans won't be able to boycott Norway until the Grand Final as they are in tonight's semi final, along with Ireland tonight, and we can't vote tonight as we voted Tuesday.

Best songs of Tuesday:
Belgium
Belarus
Andorra
Switzerland
Turkey
Israel
Iceland
Romania
Finland
Bosnia Those in bold qualified.

Also qualified:
Sweden (surprising)
Armenia (poor in my opinion)
Portugal (poor)
Bosnia (surprising)

Bulgaria and Czech Republic were really awful and didn't qualify thankfully.
The sound was awful, the hosts could have been smarter with their jokes and I don't particularly like the new EBU logo either. Great opening to the semi-final though. I thought the stage would be bigger and better.

And the Award for Most Patriotic (Nationalistic? sctatchinghead  ) Moment of Tuesday Night goes to when Channel One Russia showed clips of Russia's recent international successes including:
Zenit St. Petersburg winning the Uefa Cup against Rangers
A Russian girl winning Miss World
The Russian Ice Hockey Team winning the World Championship. rolfl

It wasn't, it was only a loose memory board inside the tower of my PC. Along with a clean, it only took 10 minutes.

I waited nearly 2 days for someone to come out and fix it in 10 minutes. rage banghead

I have to disagree with you, POK. I think Iceland was by far the best on the night and has a real chance of wiining. Just watching the second semi final now (oh the wonders of Sky Plus!!) have been able to watch Milwall beat Leeds and now the eurovision, does life get any better!

Life's not bad is it - it'll be made better if we win the whole thing on Saturday .

Come on the UK !!!! clappp clappp clappp

The song from Iceland was really good and the singer is a good performer, but I think it's quite a negative song because it's about her boyfriend I think having another girl etc so I think it should be rather emotive.

Apart from that I think it's a challenger along with Turkey, Romania and Malta from Semi Final 1.

The UK, France, Germany and Spain are also apparantly really strong this year.

See, that would be great if I had Sky +, I could have done both and watched both, but you would have had to wait a long time for the second semi final to go on iPlayer and watch it before Saturday night.

You're right, of course. We have records of all the scores given to each country by every country going back at least five years. It's a serious business.

Unfortunately, I can't vouch for people who do that, it must be something cultural and I don't think it's intended to be malicious.

I hope me posting about Semi Final tonight won't spoil it for Nelson's Head. Tonight the entries from the West were really good quality, but the entries from the East were very poor this year.

The Latvian lead singer looked like he was on drugs, the Serbian entry was a joke, Hungary was probably the "campest" entry I've ever seen. The quality of the song tells you how much the country has tried to win.

The Slovenian entry this year was officially the worst ever entry entered in the Eurovision Song Contest. It had neither a song nor a singer. The whole of the first minute was wasted by playing the violin and when the girl did start to sing, it was only a few songs. The amount of songs this year with violins being used is unbelievable.

Norway I'm not impressed by at all. Denmark's song was good, it was written by Ronan Keating and the bloke who sung for them even sings like him. He could be a contender along with Greece.

So I predicted:
Ireland
Poland
Norway
Cyprus
Slovakia
Denmark
Greece
Lithuania
Estonia
The Netherlands

Those in bold qualified.

And those who qualified were:
Croatia - surprised
Norway
Denmark
Azerbaijan - good, but surprised
Greece
Lithuania - good, but surprised
Moldova - poor, folk song
Albania - poor
Ukraine - mediocre
Estonia - quite liked.

Surprised to see three songs that didn't qualify that were excellent that were Cyprus, Holland and Ireland. Ireland's was a really good "rock chick meets Bananarama" song, but I think them all might have been all too good to qualify.

I think Norway, Denmark, Greece, Ukraine and Estonia will be contenders on Saturday night.

The fact that you are calling it camp it must have been like graham Norton in a pink cat suit with fairy wings eating a twister lolly very suggestively

I thought the same, how camp must they have been for someone to say, hey thats camp.

The whole contest is just an example of pure raw campness in it's purest form.

Why don't you judge for yourself?:

Utter rubbish.

Also this is quite possibly the worst Eurovision entry ever written:

All eurovision is rubbish, apart from ABBA. Are you having a party tomorrow, why not play a drinking game everytime we get zero points you have to do three fingers (smart remarks enter here)
