Yes our very own Tax paying Poolie wins the award for the stupidiest quote of the day, while picking up own cars from were we left them prior to returning the hire car to Teesside airport, he asked

"How do I get out without having to pay a fiver after I dropped the car off"

Well, after the laughter died down , we informed him he could walk out, or even limbo under the barrier, but he didnt have to pay for the barrier to be lifted.

It cost about 150 quid in total for the hire car and fuel. It would cost the same, if not more to take two cars. It would also mean putting 700 extra miles on two cars thus depreciating their value and meaning two people would both have to drive 700 miles each. It's also more sociable to have a car of seven, keeps the tree huggers happy and a better laugh. The car we drove was also a lot nicer to drive than mine. So overall I think we made the right decision...
