Went to see a good mate of mine yesterday just out of hospital after another big operation and the conversation got around to footie as it does.
And i asked him this question why are you a season ticket holder at Man Utd and follow them all over the country and Europe when you are born and bred in Hartlepool.
He did not want to answer in case he offended me but i said say what you want '
And this was his reply pools have and all ways will be a small no hope club never winning anything playing shiite football in the lower levels to a half empty ground to fans with no ambition or passion to support a better club.

My response was Hartlepool is my town and Hartlepool United are my club and i would not swap 1 Pools fan for 10-000 Man Utd fans we are the loyalist and most passionate fans in the country even if we do fall out on message boards some times how arrogant for him to think that,

Why doesn't he just support the Harlem Globetrotters?

and that is exactly why we love pools
so that when days like cardiff come along we can savour the build up and the day itself.
the result almost becomes irrelelevant. i would rather that than be so accustomed to having to go to wembley etc on a regular basis.
low expectations mebbes but achievable unlike expecting to win everything every season.
just wait till they follow the path taken by leeds/forest/wednesday etc oh how we will laugh

we are right, they are wrong, end of. Weight of numbers counts for nothing. I think of Man Yoo in a similar vein to all those reality tv programmes. Just because they are more popular, doesn't make them superior to us in any way as fans. Yes they have a better team, that goes without saying - but when we're talking about supporters, this is very much the definition of quality over quantity

He was right about winning nothing though, 100 years of coming second, at best, isn't funny.

rather that than ever set foot in their ground. There's a handful of clubs I would refuse to watch Pools play against - and they are one of them.

I actually doubt we will go bust. Maybe next time, 3rd time lucky and all that, but this time around I've said since day 1 that there is a plan in action.

Along with your financial problems and spells in administration, not to mention your holiday to the conference.

I'll take what we have now, cheers x
