Sounds good & I look forward to reading it. Being a social worker & having worked in youth offending teams, I'm sure there will be some interesting comparisons.
Good luck with the book.

Thank you sir. Social Workers may have a terrible image at times but we both know that the vast majority are normal people doing a damn hard job with little thanks and lots that could go wrong that is often beyond their control. And I've never seen anyone wearing jesus sandals in my life.
The launch went brilliantly, sold all 100 copies in Waterstones and could have sold plenty more if they had them in. Then got very drunk after. Will be doing an event at Border Books on Oxford St, London as well as a half hour slot on a radio station, then festivals in the summer too.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts about the novel. Its not a social work case study, its just a great page turning book that anyone could get into.

My wife work for Blackwells in Cambridge so I'll get it ordered through there. I've never worn jesus sandals in my life either but my wife used to have a 2CV & I used to drive that for a while - scarred me for life and I now drive a 4x4.
Social work is a thankless task especially in childcare, it being a no-win situation, take kids into care and the media hammer you - leave them with their abusive families and the media hammer you. This leads to poor staff morale, poor staffing levels, poor retention of workers, poor managers and until recently having the only official aim of reuniting children with their families, no matter what.
Anyway, as I said, I'm looking forward to reading the book & will feed back to you.
