Remember Jay Harris? The former Accrington player who spat at Michael Nelson and got sent off. Accrington's manager John Coleman claimed after the match that Harris aimed to spit at the floor and Nelson intentionally walked into it.

I also believe he did a nasty two footed lunge on Andy Monkhouse who the referee waved play on for. Monkhouse got up moments later and was fouled by Harris in their box and got a penalty.

Well he's now been charged with match fixing after he allegedly bet 2k on Accrington to lose against Bury.

Also charged are David Mannix, Robert Williams and Peter Cavanagh who were at Accrington at the time and Andrew Mangan who was at Bury.

It is alleged that the players cared about their match so much they all went on a stag do the night before.

When asked about the allegations John Coleman said,

"It's rubbish. There were rumours flying around about a stag do but it is not true.

"We gave our very best for 90 minutes."

If found guilty they should all be banned for life, never mind fined. They can go and play in Italy if they want to cheat

This story was going about ages ago. If I remember correctly, bookies stopped all bets on it before kick off.
