HARTLEPOOL – 43 points
Mathematical safety 69 points,26 needed
(27 left to play for, potential of 70 points)

Here is a list of the teams below us & their potential end of season points totals.
We are currently on 43 points which leaves us needing 26 to be mathematically safe

Carlisle - 77
Leyton Orient - 75
Northampton - 74
Crewe - 71
Yeovil - 71
Swindon - 68
Brighton – 68
Hereford - 69
Cheltenham – 58

I was just looking at the table and one thing is immediately apparent - we dont really concede any more goals at home than we do away. Our goals scored column is drastically different however. Most other sides around us have quite similar scoring/conceding ratios at home/away.

Surely the management can put two and two together and realise that we need to be more adventurous away from home. we are going to concede loads of goals anyway regardless of how we play so lets just attack the b*ggers!

You were right about the pointless bit. What teams CAN achieve if they won every match means nothing as not one of them will do it. sctatchinghead

OK you can update the Escap-U-lator then because that's exactly what you just did!

I can't imagine us getting nine wins in a row from now after the season we've had, but if we beat, and we should, beat Cheltenham on Saturday, that will be them down in my opinion.

We've got to play Hereford, if we beat them, I think they'll be down.

Winnable games out of the nine: Cheltenham, Hereford, Crewe, Yeovil.

Should be looking to get maximum points from those for any chance of staying up.

Problematic games: Millwall (but can change because they were nothing special), Scunthorope, Leeds

Games we could get a point from: Southend, Bristol Rovers

I reckon (and hope) we will get at least 50 points and this will be enough to see us safe. rolf

In your capable hands. The escape-U-lator is basically your table of potential end-of-season totals. And the magic safety number (MSN) is the very one you came up with, up there in blue.

It can be modified by the bottom four having to play each other or Pools having to play them but then it gets a bit more complicated.

Over to you then, but be warned it's a dangerous game.
