I must admit, when i walked into the ground and seen Foley was starting I began to think that we had no chance of winning.

I will be the first to hold my hand up and admit i am not the greatest lover of Foley, and after a shaky opening ten minutes from the little lad i thought once again he is not good enough.

BUt he seemed to settle in to the game and grew with confidence. now he does not make the correct choice most of the time, and is a little light weight IMO, but I can see signs that the little man is starting to develop and become a good player.

OK he is no Ronaldo or world class operator, but I thought he had a canny game on saturday, and with repots of him doing well on the road, I hope young David Foley is starting to turn a corner and hopefully he will silence the Poolie Faithful!!

Well done little man clappp clappp clappp

Oh no not the Foley debate again.

Look, Foley has improved, and is growing in confidence. He is without doubt a better option than Mackay or Henderson.

Yet, depending on where you want pools to progress to, he isnt good enough, and never will be.

If we had a full squad, Foley probably wouldnt even make the bench.

Would he get in the squad before, Nardiello, Robson, Jones, Guy, Lange, Porter, Brown or Boland?

Of course not. Does he offer anything on the right like Monkhouse does on the left?

Of course not.

I dont cringe when Foley comes on now, which is a marked improvement in my eyes, but he still isnt good enough.

and i dont believe matty robson is either. his crosses / corners / free kicks never beat the first man, and he is now afraid to run at full back like a winger does.

OK none of them are good enough, but when porter is fecking off at the end of the season and we have half a dozen loanees, what other options do we have for next season?

I tried to make a positive post yet again it gets pulled down my negative comments.

Is the glass half full or half empty?

Still do mate. Robson is ideal coming off the bench, but is another that just isnt good enough to start regularly. As proved by his last 4 games.

If anyone on here reckons he is half the player Monkhouse is then I will be amazed. Well probably not considering some of the opinions on here. stpid

But that said, Robson is a better option than Foley.

As I was saying to a famous bunkerite bastad on Saturday, I've yet to see Foley have a bad game.
I obviously haven't seen all his games, but in the three or four that I have seen, he's ranged from OK to outstanding.

that is the joke part right? monkhouse is eight foot Foley is?

as someone said to me today what Foley needs is a weight training regime throughout this summer, he has the abilty just not the build he has a good shot when he has the confidence to have a go, how many times in the past have we written off players that have made it else where, imo he is an improved player
just as well someone at the club is not standing knee deep in whingers and sees sense

Brackstone sold to gateshead for 5 grand and we let him go free not a fortune but still a fee

Was it only me who was pissing myself laughing at Baby David on Saturday then? THE funniest thing I've seen on a footie field for years, when he dummied himself, fell over and then feebly grabbed their player around the waist to throw him on the floor? rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl

A professional footballer? rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl

OK, he improved slightly after that, but bar having his legs fall off he couldn't have got any worse. rolfl

I was his biggest detractor - jokes later - but seriously, I was very impressed by Foley at Colchester when he came on in the second half.
If he had more physical power in the same mould as a Tony Cottee, he would be a much better proposition.
He has the pace and I think he has the skill, but not the confidence or the strength required to make it, and that will be his undoing. It's up to him really, but if he can keep improving he may just turn out ok.......................

But he gives everything for the club, he's a loyal player, he's been here years trying his very best. Isn't that how it works?
