One of the main points about a message board like the bunker is that it's just that somewhere to post messages make replies and generally participate in an ongoing conversation of whatever sort.

I bet I'm the same as most bunkerites...you have a look though the new posts to see if anything's been added to threads and then check them out on the latest post button. In some cases all that's been posted is a couple of laughing or clapping smilies or a combination of them both with nothing added to the content of the thread.

Look, I don't really want to know that you think someones post was funny or deserved applause by adding smilies and nothing else. You're just making it harder for me to find messages from more interesting posters that have added to the content of a particular thread.

It was Sussie and PoK i was having a shot at but the other nine of you had to jump on. Glad to see that Mutts especially has fallen in love with both of 'em.

Let me explain what i did there !
I found that very funny, but rather than write a load of shiite saying how funny i thought it was on say a scale of ten or whatever i just acknowledged you with a simple icon that said i thought that was very funny, now i do take your point that sometimes they may be meaningless, but do you not agree, that by acknowleding you with an icon is a lot better and well to be frank less ignorant than not replying at all.
Of course i wouldnt have replied at all if i didnt think it was funny, or irritating or made me angry or whatever ! but the icons are infact the perfect tool for such acknowledgements.
i mean just putting this for example as a reply taz

doesnt really mean anyghing other than the poster is angry or frustrated at a said comment, but doesnt explain or give any argument as to why he or she may be upset, in this i agree its a stupid thing to do and doesnt add anything in particular, but inserting this for example rolfl

means the poster found it funny, right now im in danger of repeating myself so ill stop, but by using icons i could have done this rolfl

, which could be taken as either A, Repeating myself or B, i found it twice as funny as say for example rolfl

anyway i must get on with my work
