or a few lines from a song, that always brings tears to your eyes?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7919049.stm

Mike Batt talking about writing 'Bright Eyes' "you start singing it and you're so choked up you can't carry on"

For me it's

I can't remember if I cried,
When I read about his widowed bride,

From American Pie by Don McLean, for anyone who doesn't instantly recognise it.

or

The hangman sees his victim
And the blood drains from his face:
He sees his younger brother standing proud

From The Hangman and The Papist by Strawbs.

"Ombliboo Tombliboo Knock on the door, Ombliboo Tombliboo Sit on the floor, Ombliboo Tombliboo Here is my nose, Ombliboo Tombliboo thats how it goes...."

A lesson there for all of us i think.

Its the Tombliboos song from 'In The Night Garden' by the way, for all of you who dont have pre school kids!!

There are quite a few. I must be a miserable article.
To start with, 'Seems so long ago, Nancy'...L Cohen;
'If tomorrow wasn't such a long time'.... Dylan;
'For no-one'..Beatles

used to be old shep when i was a kid, now I hate dogs so it does nowt for me....

the 3rd movement of Gorecki's syphony of sorrowful songs usually moves me...erm, a song though.....hmmm....again used to be Philadephia by neil young but I've overkilled it, it only 'works' when I watch the film now [and it only moved me initially because it was playin when i found out my friend had been raped].

no, I'm a pretty heartless basta rd these days, although 'a shoeless child on a swing' always gives me a tinge

sad peter pan, by vic chestnut maybe confised

I'd completely forgotten about those twats upsetting the bairn.
:evil:
He loves to be taken round the shops in the pram, looking at all the people and products, and he never ever cries unless he's really hungry.

Once I was in a shoe shop with him, and he was happy as Larry, watching at all the people trying shoes on, when that particularly dreary Coldplay song came on, the one that starts "You try sometimes.."

Anyroad, within about ten seconds of the song starting, he kicks right off, screaming and going red in the face. I thought something was seriously wrong so I wheeled him outside, whereupon he calmed down.

I took him back in the shop again, and once he was in earshot of the 'music' he got upset again. So I took him back outside and he was fine again.

There's a few songs I can't listen to in certain circumstances, the worst one being 'Down from Dover' by Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra.
