Talking to a mate the other week about the West Ham game and he had this to say about a couple of West Ham supporters....

'I was in Church Street before the game and got talking to a couple of Hammers and eneded up haveing a drink with them!!!! :coool:

Met up with them after the game and had a few more drinks and then went for some scran with them!!!! :coool:

Then went down to the marina with them for more drinks!!!! :coool:

They loved the place!!!! :coool:

They hadn't booked into anywhere to stay so they came back to mine and stayed the night....after a few more drinks!!!! :coool:

Next morning our lass cooked them Breakfast and then they nipped out to Tescos!!!! :coool:

They came back with Flowers for our lass and under the kids (2 of them) pillows was £50 each!!!! :coool:

We said we didn't want any money for the kids but they insisted cos they said they'd had a Brilliant time in Hartlepool....the town and the people are the best they've ever come across after following West ham allover the country for years!!!! :coool:

They are now going to keep in touch with the Pools lad and whenever they are up here in the North East for Football Hartlepool is going to be their first Port of call!!!! :coool:

Apparently they wheren't expecting Hartlepool to be upto much....due to stereotypical media shite etc....but now absolutely love the place'!!!! :coool:

Great Story Mutley. Those sentiments are the exact reason why i come home as often as i do. It's amazing what the small minded stereotypical bullshit people want to hear.

Same here Mutters 2 West ham lads that i meet though the intotheblue and we still talk to each other they loved the pools fans that made them welcome and will stop over when they play in the north.

Excellent story!! Its a pity people pay attention to what the media says about us. If they bothered to research properly they may not see it as a cold tatty northern outpost etc etc

The guy to Mr Dough's right stayed out for a few beers with us after the game but I bailed at 6 because a) I was bladdered b) I had to be up at six for work the next morning.

He text on the Monday to say he really enjoyed it up here and pretty much echoed the rest of the sentiments in this thread.

I've certainly got a fondness for West Ham now following the match, mainly because how respectful Zola was and because I think they place nice footie. Still don't like Carlton Cole though!

Despite the fact that he is a chelscum legend, there are few people in the game nicer / more sincere than Zola, IMO.
