...he has to sort what his first XI would be based on and then fill in the gaps.

For me it should be

New goalie (Dimi)

New RB Clark Nelson Liddle

Monky Jones Sweeney Robson

Joel New signing

That would see a far tighter defence with the addition of just one player, a goalie that would fill the defence with confidence, a midfield that has plenty of creativity, goals and bite and a strikeforce that could be potentially excellent if Turner gets someone in of proven quality though obviously that's easier said than done.

So there we are, 3 players from putting out a strong team. Piece of pish.

i thought the whole point was to sign new players so we could stop playing players out of position? you still have 2 players (monkey & liddle) out of place.

also a Sweeney/Jones midfield partnership seems very weak to me

We NEED a minimum of 4 new players in January otherwise we'll go down.

A keeper, a right back, a left back and a forward.

At the moment I don't care if they're on loan or permanent signings.

Monky is a winger. It shouldn't make too much difference if he's on either side IMO. It's not like he's a winger who whips balls in so would need to be playing on the left, he plays balls on the deck then runs at defenders.

Liddle has played left back before and looked good. He is out of sorts in the middle and we are crying out for a new left back. It's worth a try in my opinion before we enter the transfer market.

Not entirely sure what is wrong with the Jones/Sweeney combination. Both have been playing well this season and it can't be any worse than any of the other unsuccesful combinations we have tried.

i think we can get away with only replacing one full back position. But a new GK one defender and a GOOD striker are a must

we NEED a defensive midfielder the way our defense is playing, Sweeney & Jones would not be able to provide that

I agree with that. We need someone who can win the ball in the centre, and if necessary make the middle of the pitch a war zone. All those midfielders and nobody to play that role except Boland, who is injured again. Power was signed to fill this role but doesn't seem ready yet - or is he?
