According to team talk, he's got a trial at the club, please don't tell me it's the shit one from Bristol City.

Same shit one.

However fortune smiles on us. He crocked his ankle five minutes into his trial match against Sunderland as that little thug who got sent off against Bury whacked him and now will be out for a fortnight at least. Hopefully Danny will find someone else in the meantime as the transfer window slams shut on Bas.

this is what concerns me about football managers in general - they are so wrapped up in the job that sometimes they can't see things for what they really are. Surely if a good manager was to take a step back and see this player for what he obviously must be (rubbish) they wouldn't seriously consider signing the bloke. Cooper was guilty of this with Daly - I still can't believe we signed him despite Daly being slated by Stockport fans as terrible (and they were the worst team in League One by a country mile). could be that they think their management skills can turn a average or even bad player into a good one
we have seen it too many times for us to be conned by footballspeak

I'm not sure we have been let off lightly. Wilson wants to take him back on trial when his ankle is better. In the meantime he could be switching his attention elsewhere, but if he waits until Savage is rejected after his trial, all that will be left is free agents - and those are not without a club for no reason!

Assuming of course we really do need a big bad striker. I'm not convinced we do. Even the best BBS, Steve Howard, had limited success at Pools.

Give us a quality midfield that manages to hold a majority of possession and territiorial advantage in every game and teams will eventually crack under the pressure, even with our existing strike force.

Which begs the question, who is better Bas Savage or Daly. From what I've heard from Bristol City fans (who voted him their worst ever player), Daly is a million miles better than Bas. That's what worries me.

No he wasn't. Which perhaps explains a lot.

Just found this on the Gillingham site. Savage played in a pre-season friendly for them.

Bas Savage: The former Bristol City striker was on trial. He won a few headers and made a few passes, but I would think it's a case of: 'Don't call us, we'll call you.'

I've got to agree I think we have the strikers who can do a job in this Div they just need quality service a big striker reeks of the long ball game which we've proved over the years we can not play effectively enough

I reckon the days of having to "kick your way out" of this league are long gone, agree about a quality midfield, we aint had one of those for ages
