.....then why not try Monky as centre forehead with Matty left wing. Monky has a good touch and is good in the air and like a centre forhead no pace! I was at Carlisle and that was as comfortable a win as I have seen for Pools who never broke sweat despite it being freezing. Hasn't anyone notice Le Barrett deliberately kicks wide left for Monky to win a high ball against a right back - maybe Danny was right about right backs after all and long diagonal balls.

For the record I thought Kyle was great and despite being in a minority brown on the wing getting 12 or so goals a season means there is room for another striker in the team.

Will Pools want to pay up to say £5K a week for Kyle - I very much doubt it as someone like Donny Rovers, Huddersfield, Sheff Wed will probably offer him a better contract in January

Monky has struggled at times this season trying to do his normal 'job' never mind a strikers one.

I know a lot of people on here were slagging off Kyle until the recent run of wins but whenever I have seen him I have been very impressed. He is a lot better than I expected him to be - his touch is excellent and his lay-offs and passes invariably find a Pools player. He is also a big, strong lad who wins most of the headers he goes for. He is in a different class to Barker thats for sure.

His good performances will not have gone unnoticed and I fear that he won't be here much longer. When he came here he was talking about staying until January and I think that is the longest we can expect to keep him, if that. As someone said earlier on this thread championship clubs with a bit of money will be queueing up for him. I can't see IOR breaking our wage structure, particularly in the current climate and given Pools poor recent support. sadx

Someone once said 'you fight the war with the weapons you've got' in this case, we take advantage of him for the time we have him...it's a mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties.
As for the criticism early on, from past experience, how many times have we had higher level players on loan that haven't done the business, more donleys than stars over the years I'd guess. The early reaction was understandable, but he's made his point and won.... no ones slagging him off now.

Wouldn't that make him the 15th striker on their books once Dean Windass has signed for them

If Kyle goes we need a new Kyle , They are about, in the non leagues etc. No one at the club can take his place. We have never had a truly big target man, Kyle has outlined what we have been missing. I have always said Brown is a right midfielder and that Nelson should be given a try at right back, though it is good to see him back to his usual reliable self in the centre of defence. Still think we need a quality centre back though to push for promotion.

there is no way on this earth that nelson would be any good as a full back. its a ridiculous suggestion. A proper right back is what we need. No more square pegs for round holes

Not the 'Nelson for right-back' debate again. yawn2

Although big centre forwards are easy to find, good centre forwards are not. I remember Chris Turner being bitterly disappointed when he began as manager here and was told he was losing Steve Howard. He said players like Howard were like 'gold dust' and very difficult to sign.

Although we would still have goals in our team it has been noticeable to everyone how Browny and Porter have benefited by having Kyle play alongside them. I reckon the bigger clubs will be queueing up for Kyle's signature - it will be a pity to see him slip out of our grasp...

NELSON AT RIGHT BACK? Was there a debate? No one told me , and I suggested it, Mister, cant see how you can brush it aside before it has even been tried.

I have to admit I wrote Kyle off, Even I am not always right, he has proved me wrong and I am more than happy to say it. I thought he was finished , but it is obvious if he can stay injury free he can do a job in the championship.

Brush it aside before it's been tried?

It's as ludicrous as suggesting that a good left winger automatically makes a good left back. bbolt

The 'Nelson for right back' campaign is ridiculous.

Let's say he makes a tackle, robs their winger and get's some space, he overlaps Sweeney and the defence opens up, Kyle and Porter are running through, staying onside, waiting for the cleverly weighted pass, the through ball, or the pull back from the bye-line.............howay Mickey, dummy their full back and.....

Mickey Nelson?? stpid stpid stpid stpid

I agree totally Spender - Nelson at right back? He needs to work on getting back to his best at centre half. His biggest strength is in the air, to be a good full-back you need to have a bit of pace and not get turned too easily by quick wingers. So, not a chance. Also, Monkhouse at centre-forward is equally ridiculous

We haven't got anyone else in the squad who can do that, which is why we might need someone else in if/when Kyle goes back

Nobody, once Kyle goes - unless we recall Barker, who can't get his place for Rotherham at the moment. It would be great if IOR could show some real ambition and sign him permanently...

I don't know if there is any signifance, other than Coventry want to 'get rid', but Kyle isn't listed on their player profiles, on the Official Site.

there's a couple of things in our favour

1) We're a North-east club and his bairn's up here.
2) He's guaranteed a game (won't be at Leeds)
3) He seems to be enjoying his football
4) We're a fairly small club looking for a hero
5) IOR could see it as making a statement of intent in signing him.

Could be just wishful thinking, but there you go.

It certainly is Snowy.

In this morning's Echo......

"Hartlepool have asked if they can extend the deal until January" said Coventry Chairman Ranson last night.

"We have said 'yes' but it will not take place under the current terms. He has done very well while he has been at Hartlepool and there are now other clubs interested"

The report says that Coventry, and therefore Pools as well, are paying 50% of Kyle's £6,000 a week wages.

with your bunker name being that what it is, are you sure you dont watch the premiershit and the beloved skanks and do you ever go to pools. I only say this because if you did you would not even suggest nelson as a full back. he is far to big and slow to be a full back.

Let's think about this.

If breaking the bank to get Kyle permanently means stumping up 6K a week (and, I imagine, stirring up some sense of injustice in the existing squad), what sort of full backs could we get for 2 x 3K a week?

he won't take a pay cut and Mr Head is right after all when I think about it......... you can't have a player on that amount tof money when the rest of them are on about 1/4 of that max.....Arsene Wenger told players they could leave rather than bow down to hyowge wage demands....this is indeed the best way to foster good team spirit.
Let's be honest here, whether he's played well or not- in terms of football ability he can't lace the boots of Porter, Monkhouse, Clark or Brown....so what would they be worth if Kyle got 6k per week?

Pools have a wage cap and I suspect its at £3000 a week given that we've brought Kyle in for that. KH will not break that even if that Portuguese Ladyboy, Ronaldo offered to play for Pools. It just ain't gonna happen.

I watched some highlights where an Everton player (Neville)? put in a great tackle, but because he went in hard he got a booking!! The Portuguese ladyboy went to ground and rolled around like a big girl despite obviously not being hurt. I hope that c-unt gets so badly injured in a car crash he never plays again
