Waiting in the car at teatime and had Radio 4 on for the news, they were talking to a NASA spokesman about the Mars exploration project. They've discovered that the planet has two polar regions and below the surface there is a layer of ice inches thick and that white streaks on the planet were actually ice storms that fell as light snow...the man from the BBC asked if the snow was red..the man from NASA said no it was ..white... the man from the BBC then said this phenomenom was a recent development... "could it be down to climate change?"... cue pictures of Martians in 4X4'S.....

I caught a bit of that natural history of Britain thing with Titchmarsh while waiting to take our lass to work and it was on about the last ice age, which was only fifteen thousand years ago ...it went from ice a mile and a half thick to zero in fifty years and raised sea levels 300 feet in that time ...the climate change industry today, are talking a couple of feet in the next hundred.....so what caused the last ice age to melt so rapidly....bearskin clad Clarksons doing hanbrake turns in Flintstonemobiles...?
I believe strongly in energy saving and despise the waste we now produce, but to go round like a load of environmental Private Frasers saying we're all doomed is bollox........ My own belief is, that 'climate change' is just another job creation scheme, a huge vocational sponge to soak up all the otherwise unemployable graduates with degrees in useless subjects,.... combined with a new religion, where those who deny their obvious truth are to be portaryed as some moronic heretic who doesn't understand ... now, all the kids at school and thick people are brainwashed to accept the mantra. stpid

Over the last few months I've left me car on the drive unless the journey has been essential and bugger me if the price of petrol hasn't fallen. The energy market is in the hands of not altogether friendly governments......how can we allow it that our gas comes from Russia....and it strikes me that all this energy conservation propaganda is designed to make it a buyers market much as I'm doing by leaving the car on the drive.

And of course it's now absolutely essential that we build numerous nuclear power stations.

As for those wind farms......their only use is that they're very visible and are part of the propaganda.

They're even naming the local pubs after them now.

This was posted on a forum I use.....

"My dad was just over for a visit first time in 9 years.
We got to talking about my cousins one in particular.
I knew about 15-16 years ago he was at Colorado state University studying for a degree in engineering much like my self.
I was mechanical and he went another way.
I never really knew what until my dad and I were talking.
He is an atmospheric engineer working for NOAA in Colorado.
So it's been more then a decade and I decided to call him to say Yo cuz whats up.
After the pleasantries of hey how the family and what have you been up to for the last decade and a half and sorry to hear about your dad he was always my favourite uncle.
He was asking what I do and I was asking what he does.
Well he plots and researches weather, that data is used for shipping advisories and farming.
He said a few years ago the government gave them a big grant to do some extra research into global warming.
They travelled all over compiled data but turned in the final report saying they could not confirm any long term warming effect or link it to Co2.
In fact they predicted a minor drop in over all temps for the years of 2006 through 2009.
This based on the Earths uneven rotation through space and decreased solar activity.
This report was rejected but he said that temps on average have been 3 degrees cooler which fall directly in line with the report they produced.
He said the current attitude is unless you are crying out "the sky is falling, sea levels are rising and the world is getting hotter it doesn't matter how solid the data is they will ignore it"
He said it works both ways for the liberals they have something to rally a war cry "We need change or we are all doomed"
For the conservatives they can look to be doing something liberal when they get behind the same war cry thus winning confidence from the left.
He said it has nothing to do with the facts and everything to do with politics, money, and both sides are milking it for all it is worth.
So they have a great thing going for them it will take decades for the real reports to finally come out and by then they can just shrug it off and put it down to "well it is not an exact science" blame the research and claim the correct data is down to scientific advances.
He did say that the weather is ever changing and it will get warmer and colder then warmer again then colder.
Over all it will change.
As for alarms that we are all going to be under water or the world is coming to an end forget it they have been looking at this for years and there is no evidence of any such thing.
The world temps are much more governed by our position in space and solar activity then anything we could ever do down here except Global nuclear war which would be a temporary change leaving us in nuclear winter for at the most 5 years at which time it would stabilise and the Earth would go back to getting warmer and colder again just like it always has. What it boils down to is, we have dwindling resources, so the money people in business and government want us to use less for which they will charge more ... profits up for less production... all in the name of saving the panet .... trebles all round.

so it can't be just me who despises that energy company advert, where the kids are switching lights off and queueing up to get one piece of toilet paper and stuff, then?

British Gas... how they've got the nerve after trebling my monthly payments...they then offered to fix the price till 2012....are they for real? stpid

Can't beat the original Mill House though. Years since I was in. It was when Dave Cooks dad had the barbers opposite the police station

There also seems to be another hidden agenda emerging - 'climate change' is a handy stick to stop the progress of developing countries. Tax or sanction countries that dare to try and compete with the West in the name of saving the planet, and everyone's a winner in the free world.

Like Snowy says, it has become a religion, and some of the most rational, free-thinking people I know have been sucked into the theories.

What makes me laugh about the whole thing the most is watching the documentaries from the 1970s, in which the same doom-mongering language is used about 'global cooling'.

The scientists had 'proof' that we were entering another ice age, and lots of people believed them. Now scientists have the 'proof' that we're going to fry. Or will the climate just 'change'? I wish they'd make their minds up.

Having worked with scientists, I can confirm that a lot of them would point to research proving that night was day, if it meant them getting their name printed in Nature magazine and another few years of grant money.
