. . . . . not of the 'partner' variety but ex Pools players. Barker scored on his debut for Rotherham today, I'd heard it was with his first touch although according to the bbc he'd been on the pitch 9 minutes. Boyd scored for Leyton Orient and even Jon Daly managed a goal for Dundee United today. Jon Bass also scored although his was an own goal for Histon.
And talking of Histon as it's near quite near where I live, Lance Key was relieved of his job as goalkeeper coach with them yesterday in a "cost cutting exercise".

it was highly unusual years ago for any ex Pools players to still be playing at League level. Once you'd left Hartlepool up until 10 years ago (with the exception of the 91 promotion squad) there was only one way to go - down!!!

When you say 'even Jon Daly managed to score' - that's his fifth of the season according to Jeff Stelling- in Scottish Premier - ie against two prem standard, one or two championship standard and several high league one standard teams.

Thanks Chip, it's just what I was going to post. He's done well to return from a broken leg & still play in the Scottish prem.

the others were against hearts and inverness caledonian thistle, neither of whom would last a season in the english premiership.

fair play to him though he is still playing at a reasonable level.

Aido will be after you.......

In those days when a player signed for Pools they'd be considered to be on the way down.
