For anyone who went yesterday, what are their opinions of Leicester?

Before and after the match yesterday I went drinking with a City fan I know, who took me round a couple of decent pubs. They were OK, but bloody miles apart.

I used to meet our lass there midweek sometimes when she lived in Coventry, and we always struggled to find places in the city centre to eat/drink. It just seems to be filled with offices, industrial units and roads.

I think I must have missed all the decent bits.

I like where they have put the new ground, only 200 yards away from where Filbert Street used to be. If you walked in from the side of the ground opposite the City Centre you'll have passed some pylons behind that you'd have seen some large modern flats called 'Filbert Court' or something that was were the pitch was! New ground but the supporters didn't even have to change parking spot or pre match pub, not a soulless out of town concrete bowl in the style of Scunthorpe, Chester, and of course Darlington. As for the place, didn't see enough of it really we got refused entry to a pub because we were Pools fans, a bit strange as the atmosphere was quite friendly but they did point us to one about 100 yards away so it wasn't too bad. Honestly is their a need for 'home fans only' pubs when a fixture like Saturday's shouldn't have a hint of trouble. Surely we've moved on from those days?

I was told that in Filbert Court there is a courtyard in the middle, containing a turfed area with a flag or something to mark where the centre circle was. And one of the entrances to the flats incorporates an original turnstile, which made me think of Lord Smythe getting himself worked up.

As for the away fans in pubs, I was in one some distance from the ground just after noon, sat with my Pools top on, at the same table as Leicester fans with City tops on. Two muskers bouled in, looking for chew presumably, asking the landlord if any away fans were causing trouble. The landlord told them that hardly any away fans go in that pub as it's off the beaten track, and he never has any bother. It still didn't stop them trying to stare me out as they left though. rage

I just wish the police had been in ten minutes earlier - 6 students came in and ordered a pint of Strongbow each. Instead of drinking them they just poured them over each other's heads and went on their way. No wonder they're all dorwning in debt when they graduate.
