Apologies that this is not Pools or football related but I thought that if it is good enough for PoK then it is good enough for me

I really need some advice ideally from someone who is familiar with the Thornaby area.

I am going to look at a house there with Mrs Grave today but I know nothing about Thornaby. We know the house is great but the Mrs has doubts about Thornaby for some reason. It is not far from the shopping centre (which is apparently under development right now).

Any advice about the area / schools / traffic problems at rush hour (I will be commuting to hpool pretty much every day) would be greatfully accepted.

Cheers

I know nothing about Thornaby, so following the example of many posters on this board, I guess that puts me in an ideal position to advise.

I'm in the process of moving house too. It's certainly good to ask around and get local knowledge. I think it's important too for both of you to put faith in your impressions. If one or both of you have doubts, it's important to try to be as specific as possible about what these doubts are about and investigate those specifics. Is it possible to visit the area for a few days out? Go shopping as if you lived there and, while you're doing that, ask some of the locals (e.g. shopkeepers) what the area is like.

Good luck. Hope you get some better & more specific local advice than I'm able to give.

Form what I recall Thornaby is much like any other abbey - cloisters, broken roof, overgrown gardens.
