Can only score in the cup though, can't he?

Fuck, some of you would dry bum Budtz if he saved a penalty in a shoot-out. It doesn't change day-to-day facts.

I dont know any foley haters you muppet!! Nobody hates him. 90% of supporters think he is not good enough and they will still feel the same after tonights game. Only the fickle few will suddenly say he is a great player as he got a goal. Tool

Exactly.

Aside from thoughts against Danny Wilson by some posters, I don't know of anyone who hates a player. I don't see it as a particularly decent thing to hate someone who puts in effort every game. Still, if they're not good enough, they're not good enough. I saw Foley on Saturday and he wasn't up to scratch.

The lad has just scored a winning goal against a Premiership team and people want to slate him for his 20 minutes the previous Saturday where he did fine. I totally despair with peoples obsession in bashing the lad.

No one slated him though. He simply pointed out correctly that one goal doesnt mean he is suddenly good enough.

no one is bashing him, people are simply responding to an untrue statement made at the beginning of the thread

why do people have to be so confrontational, going over the top and arguing with everything other people say?

Lets say this again:

Well done David Foley, you've scored us a couple of good goals and helped us in the cup. However, I don't think you are good enough to make it in the football league.

This is my opinion, I am not detracting from his performance or workrate. I understand he can run DEAD fast and he can score a couple in the cup. I still think he is shite.

Thanks

Edit: replying to TPP and POK here

I just can't understand why people can't say he had a good game without saying he is crap in the same sentence. We all know his limitations but its pretty irrelevant compared to what we achieved tonight.

Probabaly because when he does score that people start stupid threads like suggesting he is suddenly great and therefore people answer back.

Robson was superb tonight. He caused no end of problems and setup the final goal.

It's not bashing him, it's my OPINION

I do not THINK he is good enough, he has shown ME nothing to prove to ME that he can be a professional footballer.

Simple really, I don't know which part you can't grasp?

It's people starting threads like this starting arguments against something that didn't exist in the first place!

Ludicrous!

He did well but he will never put in a 90 mins like that week in week out. Just look at his crosses apart from the assist.

Robson and Foley were great tonight, for all their limitations and the slatings they have got on this board and other messageboards in the previous couple of seasons they almost always give 100%
Tonight was their night and wherever they end up playing in the future they will always remember this night and will always be remembered by poolies for a great contribution to a great night clappp

if the pair of them only ever get twenty minutes a game and that is the end result then no problem
both lack the stature to compete for 90 mins against sides like that so that is why they dont start the game
but despite the cat calls the subs did turn it this time round

I thought that Foley and Robson did very well last night, nowt but praise for the pair of them. I hope to see more of that from now on, a lot more.

Unless Gordon Strachan (who was allegedly there last night) wants to give us half a million apiece for them like.

Although one of the funniest things I heard last night was from a Bunker poster stood near me at the match who, after Barker's goal, said "I'm glad we've scored again so that Foley's goal wasn't the winner." rolfl

Both of them were absolutely superb when they came on last night.

I quote a West Brom overheard talking to his mates walking back to the car;

"to fair Robson and Foley looked great players"

I nearly had a Jim Robinson.

But if that was the first time you'd seem them you'd have to agree. They were both showed great skill, were like a shit off a stick and direct. If that doesn't give them belief nothing will. More of the same please boys!! Foley has got be played centrally not on the wing. If he runs at people into the box last he did last night he will cause problems. Matty Robson needs to improve his crossing as he has the ability to skin anyone. Whoever said neither has talent is a crank. They have both been frustrating over the years but if they didn't have talent they wouldn't be at the club.

West Brom were terrified of them. If people can't admit that after watching the game last night then they are out of order but I seriously don't think anyone 'hates' them. That's just daft.

Robson, he perfoms well sporadically... he could be a top player, but till he produces the goods consistently, he will be a player who just frustartes. There's nothing more frustarting than a player who has the potential but is unable to master it.
As for Foley he runs a lot, scores the occasional goal and has a few tricks, but this obsession with endless running as a defence for both players is wearing perilously thin. I expect effort.
I feel that after the time they've had, they should ahve made a bigger impact before now, How many other players with promising potential have been shown the door, that may have also came through if they had been shown such indulgence.

after four years each they've finally had a couple of good games this season.
Well done lads - at least we'll have another couple to look forward to when the next Olympics are here then.

If they prove me wrong fair do's to the pair of them - but how the hell can mr tigro want to shove something like this in people's faces when, up until now, they have both failed repeatedly to produce the goods on a Saturday afternoon in the League?
People have ran out of patience - they either continue to play well or folks will want them to leave!!! It's not personal, it's business!!! The manager has to get them to perform every single time, and if he can't he's already made his first error of judgment in keeping them!!!

After 5 years since his debut, I expect a bit more than someone who can only score in cup matches...if this had have been any other player, the fans would have shredded them before now, there is a section of supporters impressed to the point that defies logic .... by effort, so much so that it blinds them to the obvious.

I doubt he meant that Robson and Foley should play well every week but a half decent performance in every ten appearances is not good enough.
