I live (near) and work in Newcastle and nearly everyone I speak to is impressed I'm a pools fan - therefore meaning I am a real football fan, not a glory hunter.
People are people.I dont believe there is a huge difference in how people are in only thirty odd miles, soz like.
However, when it comes to football I do agree that this can inflate people's ego's, make them more cynical, demanding etc etc etc.
But I see this in poolies too...and all football fans.
I love Newcastle and I love many of its people and I dont mind saying that.
But Hartlepool's my team and I'm proud to come from there and that my family are there.

Tell them there is a fair chance we'll be playing them in the league next season.

rolfl rolfl rolfl When you compare money spent against actual achievement Newcastle must be the most unsuccessful team in all four divisions...

PS can you tell I hate the carnts even more than Groovy does?

Me and Mr Crimes should have a twisted face competition to see who hates them the most when their name is mentioned.

I must admit it already looks like I've started, but he could still have a go!!!!

Oh dear, they have all just got back from the pub, and have decided to have a round the office chat. Its the start of the season tomorrow, so they make a beeline for the poor poolie to take the piss out of.

I had forgotten just how much I hate the skunky bounders.

Oh, and as I type, more abuse. This time about our "stadium".

I could only respond with......."You lot still havent realised just how much everyone else hates you, have you?"

Tossers.

Are you sure you didn't start it, Dibble?

I am the same and I get the pi$$ ripped out of me for being a Poolie and not a Geordie. However, since I have said I aim to attend 50 - 60% of my teams away games and asked how many away games they go to i have started to get respect.

In fact one of the biggest Toon fans i know (he was the Newcastle FanZone Representative for three years on Sky) has decided it is about time he started to take in the "lower league football". As a result he is coming down to tomorrows game with me. I have done this with about 6 or 7 of my past workmates and they have returned on a number of occassions, so I am slowly turning their attentions to Pools. I think it is also down to Newcastle doing $hit most of the time, but I have started to get HArtlepool recognised in my office.

I have worked up here for nearly 8 years now, so I would say my second team (if i am really pushed as there is only room for one team in my heart) would be Newcastle as I have met some really nice people working up here. I often get treat to games at newcastle but only when pools are away and i am not attending those games.

I also worked with a Celtic fan a couple of years ago and he has become a good friend of mine. He regularly comes down, but he said one of the best days out he has ever had at any football game was sunday 23rd March 2007

So I am doing my best to get people to recognise little old HArtlepool, so lets hope my pal enjoys his day tomorrow.

Here he is on FanZone

Where I live, there are Donny supporters, Scunny supporters ... and Leeds supporters (local equivalent of Hartlepool Mags) ... and fooking Unoiyted supporters (as everywhere).

The first two are great and we have some good crack about real footy as well as ripping the piss out of the last two.
The last two are patronising gits when it comes to footy: "You support Hartlepool? Well I suppose someone has to."
...to which the only answer is...
"Yeah I know. I tried my best to find a shittier team to support but all I could come up with were Leeds and Manchester - and who the fook in their right mind would want to support them."

I get the same at work. I am surrounded by mags and mackems, they all try to get their patronising digs in but it always ends with them saying but why Hartlepool and my answer is always it is my home town club which always seems to shut them up.

Lately there have been a few lads from the town who have started working there, I was talking to one who doesn't really follow football but if he did he would support Borer rage rage rage
