Wow!! Simple brilliant today, some outstanding performances and such work rate!!

ALB: 6.5. One wonderful save but was nowhere for most crosses and should have dealt with last minute goal.
Sweens: 7.5. Not the answer to right back but did very well
Humps: 7 Did everything asked of him.
Collins: 8.5. Solid as a rock
Nelson: 8 Brilliant in the air once again
Boland 9.5. OUTSTANDING! Even before his wonder goal he was outstanding all game, never seen him run so much, covered every single blade of grass.
Liddle 7. Did alright, still not the same player as when he first signed.
Jones 7.5. Great goal, a lot better than pre season friendlies.
Monky: 7 A little quiet for Monky but did what he did well.
Brown 9: Brilliant first half, quieter 2nd although marked out of the game a bit.
Porter 7: Theres something not right with Porter, played well but could be so much better you feel.

Thought we were going to have a decent ref till he awarded a ridiculous penalty. Shame Barker felt the need to give stupid free kick away in last minute too.

Brillaint stuff today, lets hope we can keep it up.

WOW what a performance

ALB: 6 Should of dealth with their goal but made some good saves
Sweens: 7 Played really well but would rather see him in midfield
Humps: 7.5 Good in defense and made some brilliant passes.
Collins: 8.5. Solid as a rock
Nelson: 8 Brilliant in the air once again
Boland 10 WHAT A PERFORMANCE Covered every inch, awesome tackling and a wonder goal.
Liddle 7.5 Played really well alongside Boland and unluck not to score.
Jones 8. Good skill and constantly troubled the full back. Looks a good signing.
Monky: 7 Quiet in the first half and seemed tired in the second but had some nice touches.
Brown 9: Uncreal first half and constantly caused problems throughout the game, could well get 20 this season.
Porter 7: Good first half but too tired to do anything in the second. When he gets match fitness back he will be the quality player we all know

The only point I have is we have no striker to bring off the bench who can cause the opposition problems. Barker isnt the answer and foley isnt a footballer.

What was wrong with Clarke?

I'd agree with that. It was definitely not a free kick though, he barely touched him.

i though we were defensively brilliant right up until they scored that last second goal. We completely outplayed Colchester for more or less the full 90 mins. OUTSTANDING!

Mr Hamster has it spot on - I thought Jones grew in confidence as the game progressed but i am still massively concerned about the goalkeeper situation.

i think we have always looked a better team with Boland in the team - I really hope he can stay fit. Sweeney may not be the answer at right back but I feel he is much more effective there than in the midfied - he may grow into the role.

I'm glad Wilson picked the right team - lets hope he continues to do so.......

I think Jones will come good, he wasn't involved as much as i would like to see today, and i'm not sure if right midfield will be his position but his goal was quality.

Jones scores on his league debut, hopefully he'll have a head like a fifty shilling piss pot and keep it up.

Barker didn't give away a free kick, the linseman was a bellend, their player screamed like his leg had been snapped in half, when infact Barker never touched him

I thought he was motm today, won everything on the ground and in the air. The nelson of old is back.

What a team performance, worked as a unit. CLASS

What impressed me the most was the workrate from the whole team. Outstanding. Keep that up and we'll be in for a great season. They chased everything. Colchester were not given any time to think at all. I think this team mentality could pick us up a fair few points this season. Each and every one of them looked well up for it. Just hope it doesn't peter out like last season.

Also, when was the last time you saw Pools keep posession in the way they did for the majority of the match? I honestly can't remember. The amount of stray passes and hopeless punts today must have been below double digits.

Finally, James Brown looked a class apart today. Superb!

I thought Porter played well today and him and Brown complimented each other really well, the amount of times he would make runs off the ball dragging defenders with him which gave Brown huge gaps to run into when he had the ball. Playing the two of them together also seemed to make the team play better as we didn't hoof the ball aimlessly up field

I never said he played poorly and I agree I prefer our team with Porter and Brown.

Much better team with Porter & Brown up front

AWESOME performance

Boland - who I have NEVER rated - MOTM by a country mile, to be fair though, not a poor player on the pitch (for us that is, they were in general awful)

IF we can keep it up it could be a good season, but lets see how we fare against someone who isn't abysmal

alb - 6.5 - still needs a bit more confidence- but great save from vernon in second half
sweeney - 7 - no right back and at times showing defensive greeness but a good shift
humphreys - 7.5 - one of his better days at left back - lets hope he has it as easy all season
nelson - 7 - doesnt look as good as he used too when he is next to
collins - 8.5 - gadgie -
jones - 8- seems unarsed but when he gets the ball cuts inside EARLY with a great little stepover and had the balls to shoot with his weak foot - will improve and did well
boland - 9.9999 - fook me fit at last and king of the vic
liddle - 8 - looked really tired inthe last 15 but complemented boland well
monkhouse - 7.5 - runs like a baby giraffe but doesnt play like one - a quiet day for that wing though
brown - 9 - aye
porter - 7.5 - looking leaner and was paid a lot of attention in first half - will have better days - an honest shift

foley - why - i would have shot robson or barker on up front
robson - never saw him touch the ball
barker - see above
robson -
